Shout out to Dorthy on her first Day Camp day! 🐾

Dorthy came in for her very first Day Camp session and, while she is still a little shy, she is doing so good warming up! We are taking everything super slow and at her pace. Our goal is to make every new experience positive so she can build confidence and truly enjoy the process.

We discovered that Dorthy loves to use her nose, so we introduced a little scent work—and she did great! 👃🐶 Scent training is not only fun, but it also helps work different parts of the brain, which can help dogs relax and move out of that fearful or overwhelmed state.

By the end of her session, we already saw her beginning to relax more. This type of progress takes time, consistency, patience, and lots of positive reinforcement—but she is already headed in the right direction! 💙

She is also doing wonderful in small social groups with dogs that match her energy level, helping her build confidence in a safe and positive way.

This picture was taken at the end of our last session, and we are so proud of her progress already. Keep up the great work, Dorthy! 🐾

This handsome boy is already stealing hearts! Diego does not go anywhere without his beloved ball 🎾—seriously, it is his prized possession. But… if you happen to have a freeze-dried chicken heart, well, all bets are off! 😂 Thank you to the Elizabeth City Police Department for trusting us with your boy. We are excited to spoil him with lots of love, playtime, and care while he is with us!

Welcome Dorthy to River City Bark and Park! 🐾💙

Dorthy is a very sweet girl who is a little shy and lacking some self-confidence right now, but by the end of the day we started to see her come out of her shell. 🥰

At River City Bark and Park, we work hard to accommodate every dog’s individual needs and comfort levels. Dorthy really started opening up in a smaller play group with just 2–3 other dogs, and because we have several play rooms, we are able to create those smaller, calmer groups with no problem. 🐶✨

Dorthy will also be joining our Day Camp Training program where we will work with her on confidence building, social skills, and helping her feel more comfortable in new situations. We are so proud of her already and cannot wait to watch her continue to grow! 💕

🐾 Looks like we got a new helper cleaning around River City Bark and Park… meet the Mopit! 😆

Keeping our facility clean, safe, and fresh for our pups has always been one of our top priorities, and this machine is going to be a huge help with our everyday cleaning routine!

The Mopit helps by spraying, scrubbing, and vacuuming up wet messes all at the same time—making cleanup quicker and more efficient. It helps pick up dirt, dust, hair, muddy paw prints, and everyday messes while keeping floors cleaner and fresher throughout the day. With all the paws coming through daycare, boarding, training, and doggie spa days, having an extra helping hand means we can cut down on some of those long after-hours cleaning nights and spend even more time focused on the pups! 🐶💙

Of course, this does not replace our regular deep cleaning and sanitizing routines—it just helps us stay on top of everyday messes and keep things looking and smelling fresh between cleanings. 🧼✨

This is just one more way River City Bark and Park continues investing in a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for all of our furry guests! 🐾

💔 It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our very special River City Bark and Park family members, Willow. 💔

Willow was so much more than a client to us—she was a dear friend, a bright light, and truly part of the River City Bark and Park family. She touched so many lives, not only through her sweet and loving personality but also as part of our therapy and dog demo team. Willow helped teach, comfort, inspire, and bring smiles to so many people and dogs alike.

Whether she was showing off in daycare, helping others gain confidence, or simply being her loving self, Willow had a way of making everyone around her feel special. She leaves behind paw prints on so many hearts, and her absence will be deeply felt here.

To her family, please know we are grieving with you. Thank you for sharing such an incredible soul with us. Willow was truly one of a kind, and we feel so blessed to have known and loved her.

Run free, sweet Willow. 🌈🐾 You may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. We know you are watching over us all from the Rainbow Bridge.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. ❤️🤍💙

We also want to say thank you to the four-legged heroes who have served beside them. From military working dogs to K9s who have courageously protected, searched, comforted, and stood beside our service members—your loyalty and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🐾🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, as we spend time with family, friends, and our furry companions, let us pause to remember the true meaning of today and honor both the heroes in uniform and the loyal paws that stood beside them.
