Today the puppies are four weeks old. The weather is sunny and mild as they enjoy their first day in their outdoor yard.

The puppies are three weeks old now, and beginning to play with one another.

Lyra is the best mom!! Her puppies are almost two weeks old and have doubled in size. Their spots are coming in, and we expect their eyes to open any day now.

After a stalled labor with only five out of ten puppies whelped, we took our beloved Lyra to an emergency vet for a C-section to remove the last five puppies. The large male who was stuck in the birth canal didn't make it, but with the help of an amazing team at VEG emergency clinic in Folsom, the other four puppies were revived and are doing great! We decided to spay Lyra so that she will never go through this again. She is doing very well, and we are in awe of her uncomplaining, loving nature as she attends her puppies in spite of recovering from these major surgeries. We are truly blessed to have her in our lives!

The vet had told us we would have eight, maybe more, puppies when we did the ultra-sound. Today the x-rays showed TEN puppies!!!! I'm going to be busy the next couple of months!

Lyra is beginning to get uncomfortable now I think. Gone is the famous Dalmatian "tuck"!

Our latest update on Shoshone, who lives near Truckee, is that she is healthy, happy, and enjoying the snow with her owners.
