Meet the Pets Monday: Callie 🐾

This week we're introducing Callie, the cat who decided to choose her own family! ❤️🐱

Callie belongs to our employee, Brooke, but technically, Callie made that decision herself. She showed up one day, claimed Brooke and her family as her people, and has been part of the family ever since.

As the queen of the outdoors, Callie spends her days exploring the neighborhood and keeping an eye on everything that's happening. But no matter where her adventures take her, she's always back at the door when it's time for attention, treats, and a few well-earned head scratches. 😸

Callie has a sweet, independent personality and knows exactly how to get the love she wants from her humans. Whether she's patiently waiting outside or supervising from afar, she always makes her presence known.

🐾 Fun Fact: Callie wasn't adopted—she did the adopting!

🐢 They're Back! African Sideneck Turtles Have Returned! 🐢

After being gone for a while, we're excited to announce that African Sideneck Turtles are back in stock!

These unique turtles get their name from the way they tuck their heads—rather than pulling them straight back into their shells like most turtles, they bend their necks sideways and tuck them along the edge of their shell. (Which explains why the two I'm holding decided to play hide-and-seek for this photo! 😄)

💡 A Few Fun Facts: 🐢 African Sideneck Turtles can live 20+ years with proper care. 🌍 They are native to rivers, lakes, and wetlands throughout Africa. 💨 They're strong swimmers and spend much of their time in the water, but still need a basking area to warm up. 👀 Their curious personalities and expressive faces make them a favorite among turtle enthusiasts.

🐠 Fish Fact Friday: GloFish® Gouramis 🐠

This week's Fish Fact Friday is all about something BRAND NEW to our store — GloFish® Gouramis! ✨

Did you know that GloFish Gouramis are one of the newest additions to the GloFish lineup? While many hobbyists are familiar with GloFish Tetras, Danios, and Sharks, GloFish Gouramis bring a whole new look to the aquarium with their larger size and graceful swimming style.

💡 Fun Facts: 🐟 GloFish Gouramis are based on the Pearl Gourami species. Their vibrant fluorescent colors are inherited traits, not dyes or injections. 🏡 They can grow to around 4–6 inches, making them one of the larger GloFish species available. 💨 Like other gouramis, they have a special organ called a labyrinth organ, which allows them to breathe air from the surface. 😌 They're known for their calm personalities and elegant movement, making them a beautiful centerpiece fish for many community aquariums.

Uromastyx are social baskers in the wild and often enjoy hanging out near each other, but this level of friendship is next-level adorable.

🎏🐟 Fish Fact Friday: Koi Edition! 🐟🎏

Did you know koi can grow much bigger than most people expect? 👀

✨ Here are a few fun Koi facts:
🐠 Standard koi commonly grow to around 24–36 inches long with proper care.
🦋 Butterfly koi are a special variety known for their long, flowing fins and graceful swimming style.
🎨 “Normal” koi have shorter fins and a more classic torpedo-shaped body.
🏞️ Koi need LOTS of space — they do best in large ponds with excellent filtration.
⏳ With proper care, koi can live for decades… some even over 50 years!
🌈 Their colors and patterns can actually change as they grow and mature.

Whether you love the elegant fins of Butterfly Koi or the bold look of traditional koi, these fish are true pond showstoppers! ✨

This clever little lovebird is showing off one of the funniest parrot behaviors — making “feathers” by tucking toy pieces into her back feathers! 🪶💚

Many lovebirds and parrots love shredding toys, but some take it a step further and use the pieces almost like decorations or nesting material. Tiny bird. Huge creativity. 😂

Honestly, she looks pretty proud of her masterpiece.
