🐾 Meet Snow ❄️
This sweet, soulful girl is 8 years old and has already been through more than any dog should. Scared and confused, Snow found herself at the shelter after being betrayed by the only family she’s ever known. They “got $50 out of her” by handing her off to a stranger — and she ended up tied outside during a brutal heat wave, with nothing but a pet carrier for shelter.

But Snow’s story is changing. The moment help arrived, her eyes lit up with hope — and now, she’ll never know that kind of heartbreak again. She’s safe at Effingham County Animal Control, where love, healing, and a second chance begin.

🐶 About Snow

Age: 8 years

Temperament: So far, she’s been nothing but a sweetheart

Other animals: Unknown — an only pet household is ideal for now

Needs: A calm, loving home where she can feel safe and cherished

We don’t know much about her past, but we do know this: Snow deserves a future filled with love, comfort, and kindness.

💔 KOFI NEEDS A HOME 💔

Kofi is a 3.5-year-old gentle giant who’s going through the hardest time of his life. This handsome, big hunk of love came to the shelter after his beloved owner passed away — and now he’s heartbroken and confused, waiting for someone to show him love again.

Kofi is incredibly affectionate and has lived peacefully with other cats. He’s the perfect mix of laid-back and playful — happy to lounge in a sunny spot, but also ready to bat at a toy when the mood strikes. He’s got so much love to give, and he’s just waiting for the right person to give it to.

Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet boy. He deserves a second chance at happiness.

At ECAC, we are currently at FULL CAPACITY with over 70+ cats/kittens, and 20+ dogs, and today we took in a mama cat with her 5 babies, even though we’re already stretched thin. 💔 We’re doing everything we can to care for these animals, but we urgently need your help to keep going. 🐾

💔 Still Waiting...

Grover doesn't understand why no one has come for him yet.

He's a gentle soul — a 1-2 year old St. Bernard / Great Pyrenees mix with a heart as big as his paws. He takes life at his own pace, sometimes a little stubborn, sometimes a little slow, but always sweet. Grover isn’t the type to rush into things. He watches, he learns, and then, maybe, he’ll rest his head on your knee and let out the softest sigh — the kind that says, “I think I could love you.”

He gets along with other dogs, and has been doing just fine with cats, too. He’s playful in his own goofy way, and seems to be house trained. But most of all, Grover just wants a quiet corner of the world where he can belong.

He’s a big boy with a bigger heart — and he’s still waiting for someone to notice him.

This magical litter is ready to bring some serious spark to your life — each one full of personality, love, and a little bit of mischief.

🗡 Jace – Your fearless explorer! Whether he’s scaling the nearest cat tree or chasing after the latest toy, Jace is always on the move. He’s adventurous, hilarious, and secretly a snuggle bug who loves curling up in your lap when the day winds down. He would love a sibling to share his quests with.

🛡 Alec – The gentle protector. Alec is your go-to cuddle buddy, day or night. He’s the type to quietly sneak into your heart (and your blankets) and make you wonder how you ever lived without him. He’s happiest with a sibling to care for and snuggle up next to.

👑 Isabelle – All sass, all class. This little queen knows exactly what she wants and isn’t afraid to tell you. She’s not a fan of being held and prefers a calm, respectful home, but when she’s not busy being fabulous, she’s down for a relaxing massage.

🔥 Clary – Tiny but mighty! This warrior girl overcame the odds and now lives life with boldness and heart. She’s the perfect mix of fire and affection, ready for adventure but just as happy to snuggle. A sibling to match her spirit would make her world complete.

These babies are looking for homes full of love (and maybe a few runes). They’d do best adopted in pairs or into homes with a young, playful kitty friend.

🌟 Community Hero Spotlight: Barb from Circle Star Wildlife 🌟

Today we want to take a moment to shine a light on an incredible woman doing amazing things for our wildlife—Barb, the heart behind Circle Star Wildlife. 💚

Just today, Barb took in a young raccoon and five orphaned bunnies. This is nothing new for her—she is always stepping up to help animals in need, day or night, rain or shine. Whether it’s a tiny baby squirrel or an injured bird, Barb is there with open arms and a warm heart. She truly is a local treasure and we’re so grateful for her compassion, commitment, and tireless work for the voiceless.

Operation: Chill Out the Shelter is in full swing! 🐾❄️

It’s too doggone hot for our furry friends!!! 🥵🐶

We’re teaming up to help keep the shelter pups cool and comfy, and we need your help gathering some chill supplies!

Here’s what we’re hoping to fetch for them:

• Kiddie pools (for splash sessions!)
• Cooling mats or pads
• Frozen pup treats & pup cups
• Chicken/beef broth (for DIY pupsicles!)
• Spray bottles & misters
• Shade tarps or pop-up tents
• Cooling bandanas or vests
• Portable water bowls
• Gallons of fresh water

All donations will go directly to the shelter dogs at Effingham County Animal Shelter & Control! 💦
