🚨 Important Update — Temporary Closure 🚨

Due to the recent EHV-1 outbreak confirmed in North Texas, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Posse Arena will be closed to the public until further notice.
This includes no public access, no riding, and no hauling-in of horses during this time.

🐎✨ The safety and health of our equine community comes first. We strongly encourage all horse owners to stay informed, practice proper biosecurity, and follow veterinary and event-level guidelines to help prevent the spread.

We’ll continue monitoring the situation closely and will share updates as they become available.

𝐄𝐇𝐕 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭

IN TEXAS

We have confirmed exposure risk for horses that attended the WPRA Finals on November 4-9 or the 377 Arena on November 15 and 16. If your horse was at either location, quarantine immediately for the next 14 days and do not leave the premises during this time.

If you have an appointment with us, please do not unload your horses. You may come inside to check in, but keep your horses in the trailer until a staff member comes out to assist you. This helps protect every horse on the property.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗛𝗩 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀
EHV spreads through nose to nose contact, shared buckets or tack, contaminated trailers, airborne droplets from coughing or snorting, and from people who handle exposed horses.

𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵
- Fever (Over 101.5)
- Nasal discharge
- Lethargy
- Hind end weakness or wobbliness
- Loss of tail tone or urine dribbling

Some cases progress to the neurological form, EHM, which is a medical emergency. Take temperatures twice daily and monitor closely.

Do not panic. Just be proactive. Good biosecurity, quarantine, and early symptom monitoring go a long way toward keeping your horse and the community safe.

Let’s show what Hidalgo County heart looks like ! Please drop off toys, books, and warm goodies for local kids ages 2–17. 💫

There’s no limit, but these are pickup only and you MUST confirm before coming!

🛻 Buyers must bring help and load up on their own. No equipment or assistance will be provided — these tires are huge!

These beasts are used but tough — perfect for arena setups, ranch projects, or creative outdoor builds!
