National Therapy Animal Day is celebrated each year to honor the volunteer handlers and their pets and to raise awareness of the comfort, support and health benefits they provide. Traditionally we think of dogs, but cats, horses, rabbits, cows, and alpacas all participate too. Post a picture of your favorite therapy animal handler and pet!

Formal training schools for guide dogs began in Germany in the early 20th century. In the United States, Dorothy Harrison Eustis and Morris Frank co-founded the first guide dog training school, in 1929. This school was named, The Seeing Eye.
