As we gather to celebrate with fireworks, food, and fun, don’t forget to keep your furry family members safe and comfortable during the festivities:

🐾 Keep pets indoors during fireworks
🐾 Create a quiet, secure space with their favorite toys or blankets
🐾 Avoid sharing table scraps — many holiday foods aren’t safe for pets
🐾 Make sure collars and ID tags are up to date in case of accidental escapes

On Monday, May 26th, we pause to honor and remember the brave men, women, and service animals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and devotion will never be forgotten.

As we enjoy time with loved ones this weekend — both two- and four-legged — let’s reflect on the heroes who gave everything so we could live in peace.

🐾 May is Arthritis Awareness Month for Pets! 🐾

Did you know our furry friends can suffer from arthritis too? Just like people, pets can develop joint pain and stiffness that affect their mobility and quality of life.

Signs to watch for:

✔️ Difficulty getting up or lying down
✔️ Hesitation to jump or climb stairs
✔️ Limping or favoring a leg

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Danielle Young to Thoreau Veterinary Hospital! Dr. Young received her undergraduate degree at Millersville University and Graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She has worked in the Lehigh Valley since graduating and has a special interest in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Young lives in Northampton with her husband, three children and a variety of pets. She enjoys traveling with her family, whether it’s a trip to Disneyworld or camping in a state park.
She looks forward to meeting your pets!

April is Heartworm Awareness Month!
Did you know just one mosquito bite can transmit heartworm disease to your pet? Heartworm disease is dangerous, but it is preventable! At Thoreau Veterinary Hospital, we recommend year-round prevention and yearly testing for your pets.
