Hi there. My name is Astro. I’m only seven months old, and for most of my life, it was just me, my mom and her family. A few hours ago, everything changed. We went for a car ride to a new house. I saw my mom talking and crying, and I didn’t understand why her heart was breaking. When she walked back to the car without me, I panicked. I barked as loud as I could—I thought maybe she just couldn't hear me over the engine. I pulled and twisted against the leash, trying to reach her, but the lady holding me wouldn't let go. I watched the car pull out of the driveway until it disappeared. I stayed in that exact spot for a long time. I just knew she’d come back for me. Eventually, the lady gently nudged me inside. I spent the first hours pressed against the glass of the sliding door, crying and watching the driveway, waiting for a car that didn't come.
My foster mom tells me I’m safe now. She explains that sometimes "goodbye" is an act of love, even if it hurts. She calls me a "good, sweet boy" and promises me that my next home will be my forever home. I’m getting caught up on my vet visits and medical so I can be the healthiest version of myself for you. I am housetrained, crate trained and neutered. I have lived with younger children, and I love playing with them. I still have puppy energy, but I am not a crazy energetic dog and of course I love to be where the humans are.
I have a lot of love left to give. Will you be the one to show me that I never have to wait by the door again? If so contact: [email protected].
I am being fostered in Stormville, NY. (I can also be fostered to adopt while I get my medical done.)
