Our mission at Paws Unite People is to help eliminate the suffering of animals and humans alike. Our mission is simple. We support animals and the people who love them when they need it the most. We assist shelter, abused, and neglected animals in finding their purpose in life through rehabilitation and training. We also help the people who care about them when they need us whenever we can. Our Re

habilitation Facility is designed to benefit both people and animals in their daily life interactions. We believe both human and animal alike deserve assistance and a second chance. Cats and Dogs are not kept in cages, they live in an open environment. We have special need adults come visit and work with the cats, we train our therapy animals there, and we use the space to rehabilitate abused, neglected, and shelter animals. We are currently providing assistance to 2 groups of former animal shelter staff members and their families from Afghanistan who were supposed to make it in to the airport prior to the end of the withdrawal. There are over 200 people in our group who rely on us for their survival. For information on that effort, use the NEWS tab on our site. Our goal is to create programs designed to benefit both people and animals in their daily life interactions. We believe in helping cats and dogs get a second chance in life. Through their interactions with people they can bring hope to others. Our goal is always to help animals and the people who love them. There is always hope.... all is not lost. One at a time, we strive to make a difference. The Beatles were right "Love is all you need." We strive to be a resource for rescue groups by providing assistance, training, and education to their members and rescue volunteers. It takes a village, and nobody can do it alone. If you are looking for a pet, shoot us an email at [email protected] and we will help you find the right match for your family, because that is what rescue really is. Rescue is about making families, helping families, and healing hearts. We are a Not-for-profit corporation in New York State & a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in April 2013. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Tax ID #: 46-2371384. NYS registered rescue/shelter

George has officially claimed the Squishmallow as his throne and honestly… nobody has the heart to tell him otherwise. 😭💙

While the rest of the rescue is running around causing complete chaos, George is over here living his best retired-grandpa life:
“Please keep the noise down. My Hallmark movie is on.”

This little guy has come such a long way since arriving from the Bay Shore hoarding case. Watching him relax, smile, and feel safe enough to sprawl out on a giant Squishmallow like he pays rent here? That’s the kind of progress that makes every exhausting day worth it. 🐾

Rescue is messy, chaotic, expensive, emotional, and held together with caffeine and determination some days — but moments like this remind us why we keep going.

If you’d like to help us continue caring for George and all the other animals at Paws Unite People, donations always help:

And yes… George fully believes the Squishmallow belongs to him now.

Little Bit update ❤️
Our tiny dachshund girl is doing AMAZING. 🥹

When Little Bit first came to us, she was struggling with severe ear infections and neurological symptoms that had everyone worried. She was circling constantly, disoriented, and having trouble processing the world around her.
Look at her now. ❤️

She’s brighter, steadier, more engaged, and discovering that being a puppy is actually pretty fun. Watching her personality slowly come out has been one of the best parts of this journey.
She still has healing to do, but the progress she’s made in such a short time has honestly been incredible. Tiny dog. Huge fighter.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared her story, cheered her on, and helped us continue giving animals like Little Bit the chance they deserve.🐾

Poe. 🖤

Back in January, this cat was terrified of people.
If someone touched him, he would literally p*e himself from fear.

Poe came from the Maine C**n hoarding/unreputable breeding case and was one of the most emotionally traumatized cats we took in. He lived completely shut down in the cattery, convinced the world was unsafe.

In this video, we were just sitting at the table and Poe came over asking for affection. ♥️

That may seem small, but for a cat who once panicked from human touch, it’s actually huge.

Recovery after trauma does not happen overnight. It takes patience, consistency, medical care, and giving them the time and space to learn they are finally safe.

Watching animals like Poe slowly heal and choose connection again is one of the reasons we keep going. 🖤🐾

Many of the cats from this case are still receiving ongoing medical and behavioral care months later. If you would like to help us continue caring for animals like Poe:

• PayPal: PayPal.me/pawsunitepeople
• Venmo: pawsunitepeople
• Zelle: meredith@pawsunitepeople

Every donation helps us continue giving animals like Poe the time they need to heal. ♥️

Poe. 🖤
When Poe first came from the Maine C**n hoarding/unreputable breeding case, he was one of the most traumatized cats in the entire group. He lived in the cattery completely shut down by fear. If someone touched him, he would literally p*e himself from panic.

That’s the reality of severe neglect, hoarding, and irresponsible breeding situations that people don’t always see — the emotional trauma can run just as deep as the medical issues.

And now?

Now he follows us around with his tail up, makes eye contact, asks for attention, and waits by our feet like this. ♥️

Recovery doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like:
• learning touch is safe
• choosing to approach people
• feeling secure enough to be curious
• finally realizing the world is not trying to hurt you anymore

Watching cats like Poe heal is one of the reasons we keep going.

Today we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage, sacrifice, and love for others gave us the freedoms we too often take for granted.

At Paws Unite People, we also remember the veterans, service members, military families, and even the loyal animals who served beside them.

Freedom is never free, and today we pause to remember those who gave everything so others could have a tomorrow.
Gone, but never forgotten. ❤️🇺🇸

Sophia made a new friend today. 🐾🥹

At first she did her usual “tiny scruffy investigator” routine — cautiously checking him out, making sure he passed inspection.

20 minutes later? She was accepting head pats like they had been best friends for years. ❤️

It’s always amazing watching dogs who have been through so much still choose trust, connection, and kindness.

Sometimes all they need is someone willing to sit on the floor with them and let them feel safe.

Sophia definitely approved of her new buddy today. And honestly… I think the feeling was mutual. 🐶

Little Bit has been spending time at one of our volunteer’s homes and came back to the center today for vet day ♥️

The difference in her is incredible.
This tiny girl who once seemed so unsure of the world is now exploring yards, soaking up the sunshine, and learning that people can be safe. Watching her confidence slowly grow has been one of the best reminders of why we do this.

Recovery isn’t always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it looks like tiny steps… standing a little taller, feeling brave enough to wander, or finally relaxing in someone’s arms.

Today is a BIG vet day for PUP — 14 dogs and 3 cats are being seen during this visit. Between routine care, medical follow-ups, diagnostics, medications, and everything in between, these appointments add up fast.

The good news?
Our matching fundraiser is still active, which means every donation made right now is being DOUBLED for the animals. 🐾

Apparently we have redecorated the play room.

Who needs TWO couch cushions anyway? 😭

Jimmy has gone back to watching Blue’s Clues and would like everyone to know he had NOTHING to do with the cushion being on the floor.

Stretch is trying to stay calm but looks like he just realized this rescue runs entirely on caffeine and questionable coping mechanisms. He also claims innocence in the Couch Incident of 2026.

And Buscemi?

Buscemi is furious because I called him Mr. Pink and now he’s been sitting on the couch looking like he’s about to say:

“Why do I gotta be Mr. Pink?” 🫠

Sir… because you have the energy of a tiny Steve Buscemi trying to hold it together during a robbery gone wrong.

I think we found the culprit.

Our in-house Reservoir Dogs. 😭🐾

Meanwhile, we are STILL sitting at the halfway mark on our matching grant.

The GOOD news?
Every donation is STILL being MATCHED — meaning every dollar goes twice as far for the animals. 🧡

Ways to help:
• PayPal: Paypal.me/pawsunitepeople
• Venmo: pawsunitepeople
• Zelle: [email protected]
• Web: fundrazr.com/Keeptrucking
• Send snacks for the staff emotionally supporting Buscemi through this difficult time of being caught in the act

Please help before he demands a new alias and Jimmy starts using Blue’s Clues to balance the budget. 😭

Jimmy: having a full toddler meltdown because he wants to watch Blue’s Clues. 🐶📺😭

George: just trying to enjoy his Hallmark movie in peace like a retired grandfather avoiding family conflict. ☕📺

Winnie on the couch: watching Jimmy’s life choices unfold without a single ounce of concern. 🐱✨

The wild part? Blue’s Clues IS already on in the play room. Jimmy insisted on hanging up front. He can leave at any time… this was entirely self-inflicted. 🤣🤣
