This guy’s a special one. Join us in welcoming Trout to HAR 💫

Trout won over his foster Bernie, Layla Bean & Lewis (+ Janice & Sean 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋‍♂️) during a dog-day-out at the shelter and he has blossomed so much since being in foster care.

Trout can be shy at first, so he’ll need someone patient and understanding. But once you earn his trust, he opens up fast — and that’s when the real Trout emerges: goofy, playful, and a little awkward thanks to those long, lanky limbs. He’ll have you laughing in no time.

Trout is a young guy who learns quickly and walks well on leash. He would love an active adopter that loves to play tug or go for runs. Trout is crate trained and making progress with house training. He enjoys being around other dogs and would do well with a resident dog to learn from and lean on but it’s not a requirement.

Meet Sunny ☀️

Sunny is named after the Bobby Hebb song “Sunny” because she really is a ray of sunshine. She’s the kind of dog who just wants to be by her person’s side—whether you’re heading out for an adventure or settling in for a couch cuddle.

Sunny loves her people with her whole heart and has the sweetest way of making you feel like you’re her entire world. She’s wonderful with kids, does great with friendly dogs, is house and crate trained, walks beautifully on leash, and is eager to please. And that SMILE? 🥹 Truly the best.

Sunny is looking for a new home that’s the right fit for her. She’d love a doggy sibling but could also happily be your one-and-only. Her only request is no cats, please!

Meet Cheddar! 🧀🐾

Cheddar is a 10-month-old mixed breed who has spent the last six months of his young life growing up in a shelter. But you’d never know it by meeting him! This sweet boy has the most wonderful balance of calm and playful energy and is ready to experience all the good things puppyhood should include. We’ve learned a lot about him since joining HAR and entering foster care:

Cheddar is house and crate trained and makes an amazing work-from-home buddy. He’s perfectly content to quietly entertain himself with his toys while his human works, but he’s always ready to join in when it’s time for some fun!

And this boy LOVES his toys and bones. He’s happy to play fetch, enjoys entertaining himself, and has never met a toy he didn’t like. On walks, Cheddar’s nose is almost always to the ground as he takes in every interesting smell along the way. He’s a curious little explorer who loves experiencing the world through his nose!

Cheddar has also never met a stranger—human or canine! He’s friendly, social, and ready to make friends wherever he goes.

Meet Moose 🫎
This little scruff is approximately 3 months old and about 10 pounds! He’s working on “place” and somehow already seems to have “sit” and “down” figured out. Potty training is going wonderfully for his age, and he also knows how to use a p*e pad. He settles nicely in his playpen for naps, loves squeaky toys and balls, and is extremely enthusiastic about mealtime.

Outside, his favorite hobby is rolling around in the grass like he owns the yard. He’s curious and courageous, too—when he hears a big unfamiliar sound, he heads straight toward it to investigate rather than running away. He is fairly independent at the moment, though his foster is gently working on convincing him that laps are actually a very excellent place to be.
