“Aren’t I a handsome boy? I’m also super sweet and affectionate. I love people — whether we’re snuggling or just hanging out, I’m 100% ready to be your new best friend. - Spaying and Neutering your pets helps combat the pet overpopulation crisis by decreasing the number of litters born each year. Our shelter sees fewer animals when the litters are lower–so please, spay and neuter your pets! (Be like Bob Barker!)

Meet Knox! Knox is a super sweet, smart, one year old pup. A volunteer favorite, they describe him as smart, chill and savvy. He is playful yet respectful, and gets along well with other dogs. He enjoys the comforts of home, so much so that it’s not uncommon to find him watching tv. Grab some popcorn and he will gladly curl up with you to binge watch your latest Netflix fav! When you’ve had enough Netflix for the evening, he’ll go right to his crate at night & sleep quietly; except for when he makes the cutest little doggie dream noises. 🥹 💤

APS is once again taking part in the national Clear the Shelters Campaign! Starting today through August 30th, all dog adoption fees are $25!

One of the available dogs for adoption today is Buttercup! Buttercup is a sweet and spunky girl who is potty-trained and working on crate training (needs treats). She has good leash manners (except if she sees other dogs or squirrels) and loves greeting people on her outings. She sometimes gets a little jumpy when she is excited and may be selective about her canine friends. She has been working on “down” and “touch” and is such a smart and lovely girl!

Meet Comet 💫

Comet is the total package: part fetch champ, part snuggle bug, and 100% sweetheart. His favorite things? Belly rubs, hot dogs, and bringing you his toys as a grand hello.

Comet thrives with regular exercise and would love an active home where he gets plenty of play and even more love. He’s good with kids of all ages (just give him space at mealtimes), and while he’s lived with a dog sibling before, he can be selective—so a meet-and-greet is recommended for any potential doggy housemates.

We can’t believe he’s still waiting—his perfect family has to be out there. Come meet Comet and let him show you just how big his gentle heart is ❤️

Meet our Pet of the Week, Gino!
Oh, hi! I’m a very sweet and loving, gentle boy. I love to make new friends and charm them into giving me lots of pets. My hobbies include chasing toys, learning new things–I’m super smart—and being a perfect couch companion! I’m still healing from an injury, so I’ll benefit from TLC and some canine fitness to get back into tip-top shape. I’ll also benefit from lots of sniff-filled walks to keep my brain busy. I don’t mind loud noises or thunder, so I’m an automatic fan of the Durham Bulls! Come meet me today!
