Walters Family Apiary, Miel Duluth, Honey and Beeswax Products She took on the business side of things when Sharilyn passed in January of 2022.

Mark and Sharilyn Walters along with Zach, their son, began expanding their beekeeping hobby into a business in 2007. In addition to the best honey in the Northland, they have developed lotions, lip balms and soaps using the beeswax. Their daughter Vanessa joined in 2020, after moving back to Duluth, to help keep up with all the production. These products use only the best ingredients available, plus beeswax and are 100% natural.

Happy Halloween, Duluth!! It's our last market day of the season and we couldn't have asked for a more fun day to close it out. Come find us at the Duluth Farmers Market from 8am–Noon!

We've got three more events lined up to carry us through the holidays, and we'd love to see you at every single one.

Bees have a super cool way of sensing the world around them. When they land on a flower, their antennae have tiny taste buds. The taste buds can pick up on sweet, salty, and even watery stuff. When they find something tasty, they stick out their tongues to grab the nectar. But the super interesting thing is that bees don’t just have taste buds on their antennae also have them on their front feet! They only have about 10 taste genes which is way fewer than fruit flies or mosquitoes because bees mostly eat nectar and pollen, so they don’t need to detect as many different ones. They biologically have what they need for what they do and that’s about it!

Hello Duluth! It’s officially the second-to-last day of the Duluth Farmer’s Market season! Today and Saturday 10/31, are the last days to pick up your refills that you dropped off at the market on a previous date. If you can’t make it to our last two market days, no worries! You can still pick them up at Miel HQ. Just let us know in advance by texting or calling so we can meet up with you. You can reach Vanessa in the office at (218)626-6435 or our beekeeper at (218)213-1531.

We’ll have a couple of our Matte Black and Jade 1lb three-wick candle variations in stock at the market before we bring you new seasonal sets online! We’ve been burning one in our workshop for a few weeks and, of course, we kept logs! It’s been burning for about 32 hours so far with .75” of burn left! With a total burn height of 3.25”, that’s on average 6 HOURS of burn time per HALF INCH! We weren’t kidding when we say they’re a long burn! Come clear these out so we can show you our new ones!
