June 7-8 is Free Fun Weekend!
With 50 state parks, 15 state forests, 44 state trails, 84,000 miles of rivers and streams and roughly 15,000 inland lakes, Wisconsin has something for everyone to enjoy.
This weekend, June 7-8, you can explore all of the Wisconsin State Park System's properties with state park admission fees, fishing licenses and trail passes waived. And, DNR properties across the state are hosting all types of fun and free events.
Here's what you can expect from Free Fun Weekend.
STATE PARKS
โ Admission passes are not required at any of our 50 state parks or 15 state forests.
โ All state parks are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. It's the perfect time to explore a new park property, like Mirror Lake State Park, shown here.
STATE TRAILS
โ Trail passes are not required for both residents and nonresidents.
โ All linear/rail trails are open to the public, including ATV trails.
โ Cyclists of any skill level can cover some miles with Wisconsin's touring bicycle trails. Many are along former railroad corridors.
โ Local ATV clubs make Wisconsin a destination for riding. Ride Wisconsin ATV/UTV trails with scenic stop-offs.
โ Horseback riders can enjoy more than 800 miles of trails in state parks, forests, recreation areas and unsurfaced trails โ some highlights to check out include Wildcat Mountain, Richard B**g State Recreation Area or Governor Dodge State Park.
