🇺🇸 Veterans Day — A Legacy of Courage
Today, our nation pauses to honor the men and women whose sacrifice has secured the very freedoms we cherish. America’s liberty has never been theoretical. It has always been borne on the backs of those willing to stand between this nation and danger. Every right in our Constitution, every line inked by our Founders, has been upheld generation after generation by the courage of our veterans.

My own family’s story is woven into that history. I can trace our lineage back to the American Revolutionary War, when ordinary farmers and tradesmen rose to defend an idea so radical it reshaped the world: that freedom belongs to the people, not the crown.

My husband and I have photographs lining our staircase—grandfathers, great-grandfathers, and the fathers before them—each one wearing a uniform, each one answering the call of duty. Their faces are a silent reminder that freedom is never inherited passively; it is defended intentionally.

And now that legacy continues with our sons—one serving in the United States Navy, the other in the United States Marine Corps. To see their uniforms beside the portraits of the men who came before them is both humbling and profoundly moving. History is no longer something we read about; it is something our family is living.

To every veteran: we owe you more than words can express. You carried the weight of a nation so that the rest of us could stand tall in the light of liberty.

May we honor you not only with gratitude, but with lives worthy of the freedom you protected.

He found her in the pasture — a duck with an injured neck and bumble foot feet.

He didn’t wait for help. He just scooped her up and carried her to the school.

We treated her, loved her, and placed her with Peter Rabbit, our Flemish Giant, while she waited for her rehab room.

Her duck husband (bc we keep everything rated G at school) waited at the fence hoping she'd came home.

This is what childhood looks like at The Little Red Schoolhouse, Virginia —

🌾 THANK YOU from The Red Barn Farm & The Little Red Schoolhouse 🌾

Dear friends,

Mike and I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support The Red Barn Farm and The Little Red Schoolhouse during our annual Fall Fest!

This year was absolutely incredible — we tripled our attendance from years past! That’s a whole lot of love, laughter, and community right here on the farm. 🍂❤️

As most of you know, Mike injured his back around 2 a.m. the very morning of Fall Fest. His best friend had to come pick him up and take him to the doctor. It takes a lot for a man like Mike to go see a doctor, so we all knew the pain was significant.

He was worried about leaving me to handle everything alone…
but the moment I watched him drive away, I was reminded that I am never alone — because I serve a mighty God. 🙏

When you spend your life serving others, you sometimes forget how beautiful it feels to be served by others. This weekend, you all showed up — friends, family, volunteers, parents, vendors, and guests — you carried, lifted, encouraged, and loved us in ways we’ll never forget.

And I’ve learned this: when you’re serving God, the devil will always stay on your heels.
But take heart — Philippians 4:13 reminds us:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
God never calls us to something He won’t carry us through. 💪

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing up.

Thank you for supporting our mission to protect childhood, preserve faith and family, and keep these traditions alive for the next generation. ❤️

30 Years Ago Today… 💍

WE stood before God, our family, and our friends and said “I do.”

Not *“I do… as long as it’s easy.”
Not “I do… until I feel like I don’t.”
But “I do, forever.”

And forever… means forever.

It doesn’t mean 5 days.
Or 5 years.
It means for better and for worse.
In laughter and in silence.
In sunshine and through the storm.

The world will tell you to walk away when things get hard.
That if you’re not happy, you’re free to go.
But that’s not what we promised.
Not before God.
Not before our children.
Not before each other.

Marriage is a covenant.
Not a contract.
It’s holy ground.
It’s sacrifice and grace and staying when everything inside you wants to run.
It’s saying—I will not let go of you. Not now. Not ever.

We’ve fought for this love.
We’ve worked through the hard seasons.
We’ve cried and prayed and held on with white knuckles.
But we never walked away.

And because we stayed, our love has multiplied.
Five children. Eight grandchildren. A legacy of 17 souls…
all because two imperfect people made a sacred promise and refused to break it.

For 30 years, I’ve tried to love Mike like a Proverbs 31 wife—
with strength, tenderness, wisdom, and a deep reverence for God.
Not perfectly—but faithfully. Day by day. Season by season.

To anyone walking through the hard right now—don’t believe the lie that love is disposable.
Fight for your marriage. Pray for your spouse.
Keep your promise.

Mike, thank you for keeping yours.
I love you more now than I ever knew was possible.

Happy 30th Anniversary, my love.
Here’s to forever—still.
