Blue Green Algae!
As summer heats up in our lakes region, we want to raise awareness about the dangers of blue-green algae in local water bodies. This toxic algae can pose serious risks to both pets and humans. These toxic blooms on the water’s surface may look like spilled green paint or pea soup.
Prevention Tips:
1. Avoid Stagnant Water: Keep your pets away from ponds, lakes, and rivers with visible algae.
2. Check Water Quality: Look for posted signs about water quality and algae blooms before letting your pets swim.
3. Clean Up After Swimming: Rinse your pets with clean water after swimming in natural water bodies.
If you suspect your pet has been exposed to blue-green algae, contact us immediately or seek emergency veterinary care.

Hello, pet parents!!!
As the temperatures rise, it's important to keep our beloved pets safe and comfortable. Dogs and cats only sweat through their paws, making it easier for them to overheat. Here are some essential summer safety tips to ensure your furry friends enjoy the season as much as you do:
1. **Hydration is Key**: Make sure your pets have access to plenty of fresh, cool water at all times. Consider adding extra water bowls in their favorite spots.
2. **Avoid Overheating**: Never leave your pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes. Temperatures can soar quickly, putting them at risk for heatstroke.
3. **Shade and Shelter**: Ensure your pets have a shady spot to rest when outside. If possible, keep them indoors during the hottest parts of the day.
4. **Paw Protection**: Hot pavement can burn your pet's paws. Walk them during cooler times of the day, and test the ground with your hand before heading out.
5. **Grooming Matters**: Regular grooming can help keep your pets cool. However, avoid shaving their fur completely as it provides protection from the sun.
6. **Watch for Signs of Heatstroke**: Symptoms include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and vomiting. If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cooler area and contact us immediately.
7. **Exercise with Caution**: Limit intense activities during peak heat hours. Opt for early morning or late evening playtime.
8. **Bug Protection**: Summer brings more insects. Make sure your pets are up-to-date on their flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives.
9. **Stay Informed**: Check the weather forecast and plan accordingly. On extremely hot days, it’s best to keep your pets indoors.
10. **Travel Safely**: If you’re traveling with your pet, ensure they are secure in a well-ventilated crate or seatbelt harness.
If you have any questions or need further advice, don’t hesitate to contact us. Let’s make this summer safe and enjoyable for all our furry companions!

Fireworks and festivities are fun for us, but can be quite stressful for our pets.
If your pet fears loud noises, create a safe space with curtains closed and the TV on.
Planning a barbecue? Keep raw meats, bones, onions, and corn on the cob away from your pal.
Don’t forget to have your pets microchipped!
