These two faces mean the world to me.
Maple and Grace completed our 2-month Turnkey Program last year — tiny pups learning how to be confident in the world, working on manners, impulse control, public access skills, and all the foundations that shape a dog for life.

To see them now… grown, steady, part of a loving family, and thriving as if they’ve always belonged — that’s the kind of full-circle moment that makes this work so special. 🐾🤍

From early crate routines and vet confidence, to training at Chow Down and learning door manners at Home Depot… to now walking barefoot beside their girls in the sunshine — this is the outcome of early investment, intentional structure, and a whole lot of heart.

A huge thank-you to the Graham family for not just trusting the process, but truly embracing it. You’ve given these girls the best life, and I’m so grateful to be a small part of their story.

This photo is why I believe so deeply in foundation work — balanced dogs make beautiful families, and beautiful families make balanced dogs. ✨

We are so honored to have placed Second among so many talented trainers here on the Western Slope. To be recognized alongside trainers who are lifting up the standard of dog training in our community is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Competition isn’t about beating others — it’s about growing together, learning from one another, and serving dogs and their people with everything we’ve got. 🐕‍🦺❤️

🐾 Calm Minds, Clear Boundaries

Today’s focus for Malachi, Birdie & Freya was all about settling skills — because a well-trained dog isn’t just about the fun working time… it’s about what they can do when nothing is happening.

We practiced:
✔️ Settle in the kennel — doors open doesn’t mean freedom
✔️ Settle on place — calm bodies, relaxed minds
✔️ Impulse control around space
✔️ Working near shared resources with no guarding

For young dogs (and especially future therapy/service candidates), learning to exist peacefully in shared spaces is just as important as sit, down, or heeling.

We’re teaching:
• that the environment doesn’t dictate behavior
• that open doors don’t mean “I get to make the decision”
• confidence instead of guarding
• neutrality around food, toys, beds, and access

This builds dogs who are:
✨ Safe in homes with kids
✨ Comfortable around other dogs
✨ Able to relax anywhere
✨ Trusting in human guidance instead of defending resources

We’re shaping calm leadership and cooperation, and these pups are doing amazing. 🧡

Say hello to Birdie, our newest Vizsla in training! 🧡
Birdie is all energy and heart, and she’s here for a 30-day program to help her channel that puppy enthusiasm into good decisions — from building stronger impulse control around her young humans, to practicing polite leash manners, to developing a solid and reliable recall.

I can’t wait to watch this smart girl grow and shine over the next month! ✨

🐾 SERVICE DOG? THERAPY DOG? ESA? WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? 🐾
I get asked this all the time, so here’s a quick breakdown to help everyone understand the roles, training, and legal rights of each type of working dog.

➡️ Service Dogs are highly trained to perform specific tasks that directly support a person with a disability. They have full public-access rights under the ADA and are not pets — they’re medical equipment with fur.

➡️ Therapy Dogs are trained to bring comfort to others in places like hospitals, schools, and nursing homes. They do not have public-access rights and only go where they’re invited.

➡️ Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) provide comfort to their owner through companionship. They do not have public-access rights, but they may have housing protection with proper documentation.

Understanding these differences helps protect the integrity of working dogs and the people who rely on them. 💛
