Although Ruby gets rode daily taking care of my mom, Merit; she hasn’t seen a barrel pattern in 5 years.

🔥 Beautiful lope through last night. Excited to teach off her all weekend.

Chisum told me he’d enjoy a weekend of long naps, eating, & chasing his brother, Brooks. Therefore, I picked up Ruby as I knew she’d be the perfect demo horse as well.

Demo horses for clinics are chosen wisely. Those horses are the “first impression” of a trainer and their program for clients. Not all horses can mentally handle the expectation & long hours of clinics.

☀️ This weekends clinics. ☀️

📍 Little Buckaroo Saddle Club
Teutopolis, IL

• Plan to be ready to ride at 9am, I’ll do introductions horseback with each rider and what their focus is. I’ll give 15 min after to warm up before we get started.

• Pack a lunch to bring & a chair. We’ll break 12-1P for lunch.

• All participants get 1 person in free with them. All others are $20/person to watch.

Little over 30 rides on this c**t and he’s learning to add more buttons each week now.

Great control with forward motion, hind quarters, leg yields, spins, giving nose, & even gotten a couple lead changes.

Rusty

27 days ago when Rusty came to TPH, it took me 30 min to catch him day 1.

He was nervous, defensive, & afraid. Therefore we started session 1 in his pen with round penning. I’d chase his tail in a circle then step in front asking for him to stop & face me. He was too nervous so he’d hide his face towards the fence and immediately swing his butt towards me.

🔑 This was his flight/fight reaction. 🔑

We kept doing this until he learned the pressure would come off when he stopped and faced me. Then I’d approach him and pet him all over.

After a solid week of this he got so much better to where I could walk up and catch him in 5min.

But, today he met me right at the gate instead of making me walk to him.

Might not seem like a lot but that’s a c**t that’s changed his mindset to trust. ✨

Rusty got his first rides last week and has done great. He’s a little shy & quirky on the ground but he’s really come out of his shell. He wants to remain soft and please.

Cupids Golden Gun “Cupid” ended the BA Spring Series with 3rd in the 3D Open. He started the series in the 4D but sped up a division by the end.
