Microchip Awareness Month!
Tiny chip, huge difference! This Microchip Awareness Month, give your pet the best chance of coming home: a microchip is a rice‑grain sized ID implant that stores a unique number — not your personal info — and can reunite you with a lost pet.
Quick facts (so you can share with friends):
💾 What it is: A tiny transmitter with a unique ID number that’s read by a scanner.
💉 How it’s put in: Implantation is quick — basically a shot with a large needle — and usually done in the exam room or during spay/neuter.
🧭 What it does and doesn’t do: It identifies your pet, it does not track location like GPS.
🏥Why registration matters: The chip must be registered with your contact info to work — an unregistered chip can’t get your pet home. Once registered, most major brands keep that registration indefinitely, but you must update it when you move or change numbers.
🐾The Baileywood's Difference! Here at Woodland we once your pet is microchipped, one of our team members will register the microchip for you & maintain those records. If there are ever any changes to your contact information, just let us know and we'll make sure to update your pet's records to ensure seamless care throughout the years.
📢 If your pet goes missing: Notify the chip registry so the chip is flagged as lost, and check local shelters and vets — many will scan found animals.
Cute but crucial reminder: Put a tag on your pet’s collar with the registry phone number as a backup 🐶🐱
Check your pet’s microchip number and registration today, or ask your vet about microchipping at your next visit. Share this post to help other pet parents — one tiny chip can save a lot of heartache. 💛
