โœจ๐Ÿพ Patient Spotlight! ๐Ÿพโœจ

This Saturday, weโ€™re celebrating a big transformation! ๐Ÿพ
Meet Malachi, the adorable Chinese Crested, working through land-based exercises with his favorite therapist, Dr. John. ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’™

Malachi started his journey with a bit of exercise aversion, but with patience, consistency, and lots of positive one-on-one time, heโ€™s built confidence and strength along the way. ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒŸ

Now? Safe to say heโ€™s an expertโ€”and even better, he looks forward to his sessions and the fun he gets to have with Dr. John! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿพ

We love seeing progress like this. Way to go, Malachi! ๐Ÿ’™

Chloe is the definition of strength and grace. We are so proud of this amazing girl and the determination she shows every single day. Chloe reminds us that age is just a number, and every step forward is worth celebrating ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’ช Therapy Thursday ๐Ÿ’ช

Animal chiropractic care focuses on treating misalignments and restrictions in a pet's musculoskeletal system that can cause pain, mobility issues, and other health problems. Gentle, targeted adjustments help reduce tension, improve motion, and support overall wellnessโ€”and it works beautifully alongside other rehab treatments. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿค

Dr. John and the adorable frenchie, Tater Tot, are here to give us a sneak peak at what a typical chiropractic adjustemnet looks like in our clinic. ๐Ÿ‘€

Chiropractic adjustments can be performed safely on all species and a variety of sizes of animals. Our goal is always to help pets move more comfortably and confidentlyโ€ฆand sometimes, that starts with a simple, precise adjustment. ๐Ÿพ

Tell us in the commentsโ€”have you ever had a chiropractic adjustement before? ๐Ÿ’†

๐Ÿ”ง Surgery Saturday ๐Ÿ”ง

Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) is a surgical procedure used to relieve chronic pain from a damaged or diseased hip joint. One condition commonly treated with this surgical approach is Canine Hip Dysplasia. ๐Ÿฆด

The ball-shaped end of the thigh bone, known as the femoral head, is removed. This eliminates the bone-on-bone friction that causes pain and discomfort, creating a false joint within the surrounding muscles. ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš•๏ธโœจ

FHO is particularly suitable for smaller dog breeds or cases where other surgical options may not be viable. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ•

Rehabilitation for this surgery involves a combination of building comfort post-op followed by strengthening the muscles surrounding the false joint. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜‡

๐Ÿฆด Condition Corner ๐Ÿฆด

Hip dysplasia is a common orthopedic condition in dogs where the hip joint develops abnormally, leading to painful arthritis, mobility issues, and decreased quality of life. It can affect dogs of any age, from puppies to seniors. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฆด

What causes Hip Dysplasia? ๐Ÿค”
Hip dysplasia is primarily caused by genetic factors, meaning certain breeds are at higher risk. Environmental influences like rapid growth, obesity, and overexertion during development can also contribute to the progression of dysplasia.

Signs of Hip Dysplasia: โš ๏ธ
- Difficulty standing up or jumping
- Stiffness in the hind legs, bunny-hopping run
- Limping or holding one hip up
- Decreased activity levels or exercise intolerance
- Pain or vocalization when the hips are touched or manipulated

Our vets will perform a thorough orthopedic exam and recommend appropriate diagnostic tests ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿฉบ Treatment options include surgical and non-surgical interventions. Many patients will do well with non-surgical interventions and is recommended as the first line of defense ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ
