🐾 Finding the Right Gun Dog Trainer: Top 5 Questions to Ask 🐾

Choosing a gun dog trainer for your dog is an important decision—you’re trusting someone with not only your dog’s skills but also their well-being.

Here are the Top 5 Questions you should ask when looking for a new trainer:

1ļøāƒ£ What training methods do you use?
Every trainer has a style. Ask if they use positive reinforcement, pressure/release, collar conditioning, or a blend of methods. Make sure their approach matches your expectations and your dog’s temperament.

2ļøāƒ£ Can I visit your facility and watch you work dogs?
A transparent trainer should welcome you to observe their setup. Look for clean kennels, happy and healthy dogs, and professional handling.

3ļøāƒ£ What is your training timeline and process?
Ask how long they typically keep dogs, what the stages of training look like, and how they measure progress. This gives you an idea of what to expect while your dog is away.

4ļøāƒ£ How do you involve the owner in the process?
The best trainers don’t just train the dog—they train the handler, too. Make sure you’ll get lessons or updates so you and your dog can succeed together.

5ļøāƒ£ What does a typical day look like for the dogs in your care?
This helps you understand how often your dog will be worked, what downtime looks like, and how they balance training with rest and kennel life.

🐾 First Hunt Test of the 2025–2026 Season 🐾

The wait is over—it’s finally time to kick off another season of hunt tests! Our first test of the year is here, and we couldn’t be more excited to see all the dogs and handlers back in action.

Whether you’re running a seasoned veteran or a young pup ready to prove themselves, this first test sets the tone for the season. It’s a chance to shake off the rust, reconnect with friends, and celebrate the hard work everyone has put in during the off-season.

We’re looking forward to great dog work, supportive sportsmanship, and plenty of memories made along the way. Here’s to a safe, fun, and successful start to the 2025–2026 hunt test season!

Good luck to all handlers and their dogs—may the retrieves be clean and the marks be clear!

šŸŽÆ We’ve got a handful of started dogs available — and Benelli is just the beginning.

This 1-year-old yellow female just finished our Gun Dog program and is ready for dove season. She’s calm, steady, and loves land retrieves (she’ll do water too if asked).

šŸ“She’s available through her owner — we trained her here and will connect serious inquiries directly.
