As you may have heard,
Save This Life (STL) microchip company has closed, making their registry inaccessible. If your pet has an STL microchip, shelters and vets may not be able to find your contact information if your pet is lost.

What to Do:
1. **Re-register Your Pet's Chip:** FreePetChipRegistry.com
http://www.freepetchipregistry.com) (connected to AAHA)

PetLink: [PetLink.net](https://www.petlink.net/account/register-pet/) for $1 (code **STLDOLLAR**) or $9.99 (code **VEDCO**)

2. **Verify Chip Number:**
Have your vet or shelter scan your pet if you're unsure.

3. **Update Info:**
Ensure your contact details are accurate in the new registry.

STL chips still work, but re-registering is crucial to ensure your pet can be identified. Contact your vet or a recommended registry for help.

We have never used this brand of microchip at our hospital.

Thanks to Mason for doing a great job on Bears story for ❀️ health month.
The Bear has mitral valve disease which was discovered in an annual visit when the Dr. heard a heart murmur. So annual visits are important for your pets, she showed zero symptoms for years.
She does take medication, but she recently started a pesky cough. So I'll go back to the doggie cardiologist in about two weeks, during the interview they did listen to her heart and said it did sound a little worse (louder?)

So here's the story to watch: https://www.whsv.com/2025/02/08/veterinarians-remind-pet-owners-watch-furry-friends-heart-health/

With Heart Health Month underway, local veterinarians are reminding pet owners to not forget to monitor their furry friends’ heart health as well.
