Meet Lola! This sweet girl was recently spayed, and her family went the extra mile by also having her microchipped; an amazing decision that could one day save her life.
A microchip is a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, that’s implanted just under the skin, usually between the shoulder blades. It can be placed during a spay/neuter procedure or at a regular wellness visit. The process is quick (similar to a vaccination) with just a brief pinch and maybe a little soreness afterward.
Once implanted, the microchip stays in place for life. It holds a unique ID number linked to your contact information in a secure national database. If your pet is ever lost and brought to a vet or shelter, they can scan the chip and contact you right away. And if you move or change your phone number, no problem; you can easily update your info online without needing a new chip.
Whether you have a curious cat who might dart out the door or a dog who gets spooked by fireworks, microchipping offers peace of mind and a reliable way to bring them back home. No matter the species or breed, microchipping is one simple step that can make a world of difference.
