Today, I was not the clinic owner.I was not the one helping guide a family through one of the hardest decisions they will ever make.

Today… I was the client.

Today, my family sat in that room saying goodbye to our favorite dog — the bestest boy, our loyal companion, our family. And for the first time in a long time, I was reminded what it truly feels like to sit on the other side of the table with a heart that is breaking into pieces.

One of the hardest things about loving a pet is knowing when it is time to let them go. People will ask, “How do you know?” The truth is… no one can tell you when it’s time besides your pet. It’s in their eyes. It’s in the way they look at you when they are tired, hurting, and asking you for help.

He was ready.We were not.

But we loved him enough to do it for him.

Our hearts hurt deeply tonight, but his heart is finally at peace and his body is finally at rest. And as painful as today was, it reminded me why compassionate veterinary medicine matters so much.

Today, I was also reminded how incredibly blessed I am to have the team that I do at Pet Care Plus. These are not just employees. These are compassionate, selfless human beings who walk families through the worst day of their lives with kindness, patience, dignity, and love. They truly are angels on earth.

Watching my team care for my own family the way they care for others every single day made me prouder than I can even put into words. Thank you to my Pet Care Plus family for loving people and their pets the way you do. Thank you for helping families carry the unbearable weight of goodbye.

Tonight our home feels quieter, our hearts feel heavier, and we miss our boy more than words can explain. But I know he left this world surrounded by love, and sometimes that is the greatest final gift we can give them. ❤️

At Pet Care Plus, we are not corporate, we are not a nonprofit — we are a small business. We are simply normal people doing what we love: caring for animals and the people who love them.

Everything we do is made possible by the families who walk through our doors and trust us with their pets. That support allows us the freedom to focus on what truly matters: the care, comfort, and well-being of every animal we see.

Because we are privately owned, we can make decisions based on compassion, medical judgment, and what is best for the patient sitting in front of us — not quotas, corporations, or outside pressures.

Veterinary medicine is not always easy. It can be emotional, exhausting, and heartbreaking at times. But at the end of the day, we do this for one purpose: to know we gave everything we could to help an animal in need and to sleep peacefully at night knowing we truly cared. ❤️🐾

To every client who supports small businesses like ours — thank you. You are the reason we are able to continue doing what we love and providing compassionate veterinary care when it matters most.

We understand that surgery costs can sometimes feel overwhelming, and we never take that lightly. At Pet Care Plus, our goal is to provide safe, high-quality medical care for your pets.

Before surgery, we strongly recommend important safety measures such as:

• Pre-surgical bloodwork – helps evaluate liver function, kidney function, blood sugar, infection risk, anemia, and overall organ health before anesthesia.

• Heartworm testing – screens for heartworm disease, which can place added stress on the heart and lungs during anesthesia.

• Age-appropriate vaccines – helps protect pets from contagious illnesses while hospitalized or recovering from surgery.

• FeLV/FIV testing in cats (“triple testing”) – screens cats for Feline Leukemia, FIV, and sometimes heartworm disease, all of which can impact healing and immune function.

• Proper anesthetic monitoring and pain management – includes monitoring heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, temperature, and keeping pets as comfortable and safe as possible during and after surgery.

These tests help us detect hidden medical conditions that could increase anesthetic or surgical risks. While most pets do very well under anesthesia, some pets may have underlying conditions that place them at higher risk. These protocols help protect your pet, improve surgical safety, and ensure everyone involved is making informed medical decisions.

Choosing a higher standard of care means choosing safety, preparation, and the best possible outcome for your pet. ❤️🐾

💔 URGENT: Help Laika Get the Surgery She Needs 💔

This sweet girl is currently at Pet Care Plus and is scheduled for emergency surgery tomorrow morning. This was something no one planned for… 💔

Laika went missing for a couple of days, and when her family finally found her, she was injured and in pain. Now she’s facing a major surgery, and her mom is doing everything she can to give her the chance she deserves.

Laika is the sweetest girl, full of love, and she still has so much life ahead of her. 🐾❤️ She deserves the chance to heal, to run again, and to be back with the family who loves her so much.

Right now, her owner just needs a little help getting through this unexpected situation. Veterinary emergencies are tough, especially when they come out of nowhere.

👉 If you’re able to help in any way, donations can be called directly into Pet Care Plus at (810) 652-6001

Every single dollar, share, and prayer means more than you know. 🙏

Even if you can’t donate, please share this post to help reach someone who can. Let’s come together as a community and help this sweet girl get the care she needs. ❤️
