🌟 Meet Our X-Men Kittens! 🌟
This litter of heroes is already showing their superpowers — being calm, cuddly, and extra gentle, while still having all the playful spark you’d expect at 8–9 weeks old. They love to be scooped up, snuggled, and carried around.

🐾 Cyclops – A longhaired gray-and-white boy with striking looks.
🐾 Mystique – A cloudy white-and-gray shorthaired girl, mysterious and lovely.
🐾 Jubilee – A colorful brown-and-white tabby full of charm.
🐾 Wolverine – A boy with a white coat and darker brown spots, small but mighty.

Not pictured: their brave little sister Storm, who was half the size of her siblings and has gone to foster care with the younger kittens to catch up in growth.

If you’re looking for kittens with super snuggle powers, these four are ready to melt your heart. 💛

Meet Dallas! Their owner had a lot to say: "Dallas is a 10 month old Beagle C**n hound mix. He loves cats, other dogs and children. Crate trained and house broke as long as he is on a take out schedule. He loves to be inside with his humans however being outside able to run really makes him happy. Dallas loves to play fetch and chase the children around to play. He also will entertain himself with his favorite toys. Dallas would thrive in any home as long as he has attention and love. Dallas will need to be given patience when it comes to meeting a man. He comes from a female only home. However he does adjust and learn to trust a man over time. Dallas is up to date on vaccines including rabies. He is neutered and has a microchip."

🐾✨ Meet Hilda, Zelda, and Miles — Three Resilient Kittens Ready for Forever ✨🐾

These three 3.5-month-old siblings have had anything but an easy start. Their mother, Sabrina, was found stray and gave birth in our care, but sadly passed away soon after from an unknown illness. Her babies spent their whole young lives in our treatment room, too fragile to leave — until now. 💔➡️💛

Now stronger and brighter than ever, they’re finally ready to meet the world:

🌙 Zelda – A striking gray tabby female with dramatic black whorls swirling across her coat. Curious, beautiful, and full of spirit.
☁️ Hilda – A softer light gray tabby female, sweet and gentle with a calmer, shyer presence that wins hearts quietly.
🌲 Miles – Their brother, a dark gray/brown tabby male, playful and sturdy, with energy that’s sure to bring joy wherever he goes.

Whether it was losing their mama too soon, her illness, or just rough luck, these kittens have never had it easy. But today, they’re showing more energy, personality, and resilience than ever before. They’re ready for visits, fostering, and adoption — and most of all, they’re itching to leave their cage behind for homes of their own.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to adopt, this is it. Come meet Hilda, Zelda, and Miles and give them the happy ending their story deserves. 💕

💔🐾 Our Most Challenging Cases — and Our Most Deserving 🐾💔

Shelter life isn’t easy, and for some dogs it’s especially hard. Today we want to shine a light on two of our longest-standing residents — dogs who have been adopted and returned, who have known disappointment but still carry so much love to give.

✨ Berry (fka Loxley, orange and white speckled dog)
Berry is a gorgeous, gentle lady with a heart as soft as her fur. But she struggles with separation anxiety and loud noises — this past 4th of July, she hurt herself badly trying to cope with fireworks. 💔 She longs for a calm, loving home where she won’t be left alone for long stretches. Older and sweeter, Berry is the kind of companion who just wants to rest her head near yours and feel safe at last.

✨ Chex-Mix (red-coated pitty-mix)
Chex is a big-hearted goofball with energy to spare and eyes that beg for love. But he’s had a harder time adjusting — he struggles with resource guarding around food, and potty training just hasn’t clicked. Despite this, he’s playful, affectionate, and so eager to belong to someone patient enough to see past his rough edges.

🐶 These two dogs embody the truth: shelter animals are not broken, they just need the right person. They need someone kind, patient, and steady — someone who can look at them and see not their struggles, but their worth.

We won’t stop fighting for Berry and Chex-Mix. But we need your help. If you can’t adopt, please share their stories. You never know who might be the person they’ve been waiting for. ❤️

Welcome!

The Mission of the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society is to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through sheltering, adoptions, community education, and spay/neuter programs. The non-profit group, administered by a 12-person board, owns the Humane Society building and grounds and pays for all maintenance and improvements to the facilities. The building was built in 1978 and expanded in 2005 with a room for the cats and kittens and in 2016 the Katherine E. Nelsen Adoption Center was completed to provide modern and more humane accommodations for our dogs and puppies.

Our organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors working in cooperation with the Boyle Fiscal Court to operate the animal shelter.

The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society opened the Happy Paws Spay/Neuter Clinic in October 2007. The one-day per week clinic makes affordable surgery prices available to individuals receiving public assistance or those with low incomes. Over 1,000 surgeries are performed each year! Happy Paws is self-sustaining, receiving support from private donations and granting agencies.
