He graduated from Mutts with Manners, and it’s awesome that he’s getting a second chance after his previous owner’s health situation. Re-Introducing: Bella! (formerly known as Raven)

We had Bella in our care as a puppy and she's found her way back to us as a 10 month old sweetheart. Her name was originally Raven but Bella is the one she knows and responds to. Even though she's freshly returned to us, she immediately proved to be a huge softie and definitely still a baby at heart. She's so sweet and happy to see anyone who wants to give her love.

Look at this cutie! Ana is an affectionate, cuddly, laid-back, and obedient senior who’s a total sweetheart. Those teeth, tho! 🦷 A dog's dental health is closely linked to its overall health; poor dental hygiene can lead to serious problems, including infection of the heart and kidneys. Never mind that it’s painful for the pups! Ana requires a dental exam and’ll likely need some teeth extracted. Meet Max! A Good Samaritan found Max in Junction near the railroad tracks and is fostering him until we find a new home. According to his foster, Max is "really sweet. He gets along with my dog (a mastiff), and he does really well around kids. He pretty much just likes to be around people, and snuggle up." Max will be at the humane society today between 1 & 5 - hurry in because this little guy will go fast! 🐾

On Tuesday we had the wonderful opportunity to attend Tails and Tales at Plaid Elephant Books where the kids read story books to our pooches. The dogs loved the attention and meeting new friends and I daresay the participants had a great time with our pups, Hanna and Gentry. Welcome!

The Mission of the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society is to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through sheltering, adoptions, community education, and spay/neuter programs. The non-profit group, administered by a 12-person board, owns the Humane Society building and grounds and pays for all maintenance and improvements to the facilities. The building was built in 1978 and expanded in 2005 with a room for the cats and kittens and in 2016 the Katherine E. Nelsen Adoption Center was completed to provide modern and more humane accommodations for our dogs and puppies.

Our organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors working in cooperation with the Boyle Fiscal Court to operate the animal shelter.

The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society opened the Happy Paws Spay/Neuter Clinic in October 2007. The one-day per week clinic makes affordable surgery prices available to individuals receiving public assistance or those with low incomes. Over 1,000 surgeries are performed each year! Happy Paws is self-sustaining, receiving support from private donations and granting agencies.
