SSR Performance Horses is a privately owned and operated training facility located conveniently in the back mountain just off 309 N towards Tunkhannock. We offer western riding lessons with a strong focus on horsemanship and the goal to be successful in reining and ranch riding. We also offer monthly training for horses from green to fine tuning of finished horses. On occasion we offer horses for

Moscow Mule

Moscow is a teenage john mule standing 16.2hh and thickly made. If you’re looking for a big husband safe mule to trail ride and camp on here’s your dude! Moscow neck reins and rides off walk, trot and canter he will go around the arena but has mostly been used for trails and packing his whole life. Moscow has been all over the country from the west to east coast working in a pack string and going on hunting trips to becoming a personal trail mount for a private owner. Moscow has been rode by kids around the arena, he’s done some obstacles like a cowboy curtain, pool noodle walk through, bridges and has been out on hunter paces etc. Moscow doesnt require britchen or crupper on his saddle and can be ridden ba****ck or english. He is a trail boss negotiating all terrain, up and down mountains over dead fall and through deep mud and river beds. Moscow stands like a statue on a single tie or on cross ties and is great to groom, bathe and clip. He loads into any style trailer and hauls quietly he off loads in new places like a champ and rides off without prep. Moscow is easy to live with being clean in his stall, easy to catch and gets along in a mixed herd. He has been around dogs, cows and farm equipment making him well versed to all the daily hustle and bustle from traffic to construction and more. Moscow is very comfortable to jog and lope and has a great stop. He would make a great addition to any family looking for a solid trail mount.
Moscow has been barefoot and sound with us all perspective buyers are welcome to a PPE at their expense. If you need help arranging shipping we are happy to share our list of haulers we have used in the past.

Maxwell Mule
Max is a gorgeous seal bay 10 year old John mule that stands 14hh and wide! Max is barefoot and sound with bump and blemish free legs. Max is a great all around mount from being an absolute trail boss to riding collected in frame for English or one handed in a finished bit for western. Max will tolerate giving kids a pony ride and quiet enough to pack and advanced beginner around for lessons or a trail hack. Out in the woods Max negotiates rough terrain with the skillful and sure footedness a good mule should. He will cross over dead fall, ditches, ravines, water and more… Max is fine to go out alone or in a group and will happily take the lead or bring up the rear. Max is patient and careful when horses ride beside or behind him and has even dallied colts and drug them out in the fields. Max is very smooth walk, trot and canter and picks up both leads with ease. He has a good “whoa” and will side pass and leg yield, he can do simple lead changes smoothly and will float over trot poles without ever touching one, he will also take a jump. Max would be a great mule for just about anyone, he is easy to catch, stands great for vet to work on as well as farrier. Max doesn’t mind clippers and is good for a bath as well as being groomed and saddled. Max has extensive trail miles and has been hauled all over and camped overnight. Max is a one of a kind sweet heart of a mule if you’re looking for your next go anywhere and do anything kind of partner look no further. He is safe and quiet and really enjoys companionship and any job you ask of him. Max sells sound with no previous medical history or known vices.

Do not compare yourself. There is only this moment, this horse. Your hands, seat, voice and leg, define the parameters of the entire world for this horse.

What anyone else is doing, or has ever done, does NOT matter.
Whomever it is that you look up to — or feel less than —
Is in turn, looking up to another rider, wishing to aspire to that level. So be content where you are… You are blessed!

YOU are your only competition… Just be better today than you were yesterday. Try hard for this horse you ride and try hard for yourself. Most of all, enjoy this time; Every moment. Every stride. Every cue that is answered with a response.

He’s not wet he’s that shiny ✨

Meet Maxwell mule a 10 year old John mule that stands 14 hands high and wide! This mule is so fun to ride from the arena to the trail! He’s a A++ mover and would excel in dressage/western dressage as well as any type of western riding from pleasure trails to play day games, obstacles and more! If you’re looking for a quiet and upbeat fun kinda ride Max will be just the mule you’ve been looking for! Max is a gentleman for the vet, great to be groomed and tied, lets you carve out his ears with a set of clippers, loads and hauls like a rockstar and has been used to dally colts, teach some lessons, trail ride all over the country side and even for english flat and jumps.

It’s hard to find a good mule in the four figures but here he stands 🙂

Max is barefoot and sound with clean blemish free legs, he is a stunning seal bay and is a very sweet and pocket type mule. PPE welcomed at prospective buyers expense, can help with shipping just about anywhere!

🖤⚜️ Gucci Jumpsuit ⚜️🖤

Looking for your next eventer or fox hunter? Maybe a hunter/jumper? Or possibly even dressage mount? Check out Joey! This gorgeous bay gelding is 12 years old and a tick over 16hh with blemish free legs and nice hooves! Joey has no brands, no tattoos or microchip- we believe him to be a warmblood but you can call him whatever breed you find suitable. Joey is very comfortable walk, trot and canter, he takes his leads nicely, will collect in contact and though he has been out of a program and in the backyard for the last two years, he will still leg yield, side pass, turn on haunches and offer shoulder in and haunches in. Joey is a nice jumper and really thrives in the open field or trail, he has jumped many natural jumps as well as man made from benches to ramps, barrels, logs and so much more with ease! Joey loves the word whoa and gladly comes back on the buckle when asked but don’t let that fool you if you put your spur on he knows how to dig in and gallop the hill stretch too. We have just been legging this boy back up and decided to haul out to a local horse trial and he did not disappoint. He was floaty in the dressage test and lots of scope in his stadium round and finally an absolute boss cruising the solo cross country round navigating many steep up and down hill grades, wildlife and cars passing by at the edge of the field.
Joey loads easily and will stand tied at the trailer. Good to bathe in the wash rack and very well behaved for vet and farrier. Joey turns out well in a group or will live alone- he’s also tidy in his stall with no bad habits inside. Joey has no vices or previous medical history. He is sound, happy and ready to go back to work!
