We offer western riding lessons with a strong focus on horsemanship and the goal to be successful in reining and ranch riding. Wanting the quiet gentle mind, substance and bone of a draft cross without the 16.2hh and over size?!

Check out this sweetheart, she’s classy, she’s QUIET and she is as comfortable and smooth as the day is long!!!! Seriously one of the most comfortable to sit the trot horses I’ve ridden in a long time, and her canter is equally as dreamy. She rides way more gentle and broke than her age suggests. She is easily youth and AA friendly- could go western or English has a ton of arena and trail miles. This young prospect would be the ideal fox hunter for those looking for 2nd and 3rd flight speeds and she would be quite content strolling along as a Hilltoppers horse too! She has potential for many directions though blinding speed will not be her forte lol she’s a kick ride but not lazy just not going to set the world on fire in the jumpers. Dressage, low level eventing, fox hunting, trail riding, working equitation, obstacle challenges and more would be her ideal place to go. She loads she hauls she requires no prep and is EASY to live with. Sound, no vices, no previous medical history and just as broke as you want one to finish out into your dream horse ❤️‍🔥

Being a professional in the equine industry is something most people see through a filtered lens.

They see the rides, the progress, the polished arenas, the horses looking happy and cared for. What they don’t always see is everything it takes to keep that picture alive.

This life is not a 9–5. It doesn’t come with weekends off, holidays, or “closing time.” Horses still need fed in the snow, stalls still need cleaned in the heat, ice needs broke in the winter, snow needs shoveled from the gates, water tubs still need scrubbed, fly traps needs changed, all of this when you’re exhausted, sick, or running on empty—no excuses, no it cant wait until tomorrow.

There is no clocking out.

Right now, I find myself going through the motions—weed whacking, dragging arenas, knocking down cobwebs, cleaning sheds, chain harrowing pastures, scrubbing and refilling water tubs and buckets —while watching clients come and enjoy the very horses I pour my entire life into caring for.

And I won’t lie… that wears on you.

There are days I feel like I’ve traded my entire “normal life” for this one. Birthdays missed. Vacations impossible. Relationships strained. A schedule that never truly belongs to you. And endless expenses that never seem to stop coming.

I love these horses deeply—sometimes even the ones that aren’t mine feel like they are. But that connection can also hurt, especially when you step back and watch things handled in a way you know isn’t fair to them. Over time, it can make even the most passionate trainer feel a little hardened.

I don’t say this for pity. I say it because people often don’t understand what this industry demands from the humans in it.

Many equine professionals quietly deal with burnout caused by:
• Extremely long workdays that start before sunrise and end after dark
• Financial uncertainty, even while working constantly
• Physical injuries that become part of the job
• Seasonal income swings that make stability difficult
• Isolation in rural barns and facilities
• The constant responsibility of animals who depend on you every single day

And the truth is, horses don’t stop needing care—ever. Not for weather, not for holidays, not for illness, not for life happening around you.

Some days I think about how different life would look if I had chosen a “normal job,” gone to school, and just boarded my own horse somewhere I could actually enjoy them instead of living the grind behind the scenes of everyone else’s enjoyment.

This isn’t a complaint—it’s reality. A labor of love that asks for everything you have, every single day— with very little in return. I have no health care, I have no pension, I have no retirement, I have no savings and I have little to no life. So forgive me when you come to enjoy your horse and I’m tense, tired and probably over stimulated.

Who needs a broke one on a budget?!

13 year old grade QH mare about 14.2/14.3hh, maneuvers are there just a little rusty but fun and no tricks. Would be fun for a kid looking to a little of everything from sorting, ranch, trail and speed events. She spins, side passes, lopes off either lead from a walk and has a super nice stop and rollback!
