🎉 We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Family Affair program! 🎉

A HUGE thank you to the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust, a KeyBank Trust for their generous grant funding that makes this life-saving program possible.

With Family Affair:
✨ Mom is spayed for just $75
✨ Each kitten is only $5

If a kitten is too young for rabies or needs booster FVRCP vaccines, those will not be covered by the grant on a different day.

See the posted photo for full details and requirements.

📞 Appointments are required!
Call 313-451-8200 on Mondays at 9AM and leave a message. Be sure to mention “Family Affair” in your message.

We return calls in the order received. If you don’t hear back by Thursday, that means we’re full for the week—please try again the next Monday.

🔹 Available while grant funding lasts! If a kitten is too young to receive a rabies vaccine at the time of surgery, the rabies vaccine will not be covered at a later date. The client will be responsible for the cost of the vaccine once the kitten is old enough to receive it

New kids at the bowling green Petco!

Burke: A graduate of our feral to friendly program. Burke came to us from a hoarding case and was completely feral. He's been with us for 3 years now and is a completely different cat. He is incredibly affectionate, loves to meow, and loves other cats! He is around 5 at this point.

Beef: Is a female cat who came to us as a kitten. She was never adopted and has been with us for around 2 years. She's a great girl who does incredible with other cats. She is very affectionate and loves people!

Sammie: Sammie can to us last summer as a semi feral kitten. She's great with people now but can be shy at first. She would do best in a home with other cats. She relies on them to feel more comfortable. She's still really young and will acclimate well to most homes (9 or 10 months) as long as she's given proper time to get used to her new home.

Due to several comments on my previous post I would like to clarify that we did NOT euthanize Tom due to cost. Cost was not even brought up. He was already dying. He had a massive hole in his body that was filled with maggots and infection. You could see into the cat's body cavity. If you believe every injury or illness can be fixed volunteer in an open intake shelter for a week. Euthanasia wouldn't exist if vetrinary medicine worked like that.

Making the choice to euthanize a cat is incredibly hard. We aren't doing it for fun. We aren't doing it because its easier. We do it because that is the best choice for the cat. Forcing animals to go through treatment knowing that they are going to die either way is torture. I'm not going to do that to an animal who has already been suffering just so we can all feel better.

It's heartless to accuse rescues of euthing because of cost and questioning if something could have been done. We are a rescue, the point is to rescue. It should be obvious if something can be done, we would be doing it.

Everyone needs to sit down and truly think about the situation. Someone who has worked in rescue for over 10 years, who has seen god awful things happen to cats, got this cat and knew to IMMEDIATELY rush him to be put out of his misery. That is how awful it was. Maybe something could have been done for him had he received help immediately after this injury happened. But not after it's already been fester, rotting and eaten alive by maggots.

I feel like there is a deep disconnect between the public and rescues on understanding what rescue is. We aren't just scooping up kittens and adopting them out. This work is life AND death.

Today was an emotional day. I received a message about an injured stray cat. I had an adoption earlier today which made space for me to get this guy. His injuries were some of the worst I've seen in awhile. He had a massive hole on his side. You could see clear as day into his body. It was also filled with maggots. They had been eating him alive. The end of his tail was also mangled. I drove him immediately to the emergency vet, knowing what the prognosis would be. He was humanely euthanized and put out of the suffering he must have endured for days. During it all he purred and rubbed his head in my hands. I think he knew he was finally getting help. I will be thinking about this baby for a long time. I hope he knows that he was loved and cared about. Thank you to the kind person who kept him safe until he could be helped.

This little man came in yesterday from our vet's office. He was found outside and finder couldn't afford care. Considering the level he will need we understood and took him in. I was hoping he would just need the one eye removed. But now I'm feeling it will be both. He's been named Cricket and he's such a sweetie. He starts purring the second you pick him up and has been having a great time playing in his pop up enclosure. He's only a pound, so he will need to wait a bit for surgery unfortunately. But if he keeps eating at the rate he is, he should gain that weight quickly. If you'd like to donate to his care please check the links below.

Nephele hasn't received any applications! I'm very shocked. This young lady is around 2 years old. She is incredibly laid back. This is your cuddle on the couch and binge watch TV with you cat. She is so sweet and just wants to be near you. She uses her litter box perfectly and is overall a very clean kitty. She is hissy when she first meets new cats. But gets over it pretty quickly. You're missing out on this beauty. Come meet her at the bowling green petco!

I'm testing the waters for a special adopter for Suki. Suki is a 6 month old kitten who is partially blind and with slight neurological issues. She is very friendly, responds well to her name and has no issues with other cats. She is in general a pretty nervous kitten. Doc believes she lost her sight as opposed to being born this way, leading to this nervousness. Suki is a very beautiful and i realize that may lead to people wanting to adopt her solely based on that. She needs someone experienced with shyness and disabilities. Please consider that before applying. She is going to require more work and hands on time than your average kitten. If you think that could be you, please check out our adoption info on our site.
