So long, May - you were a good one ✨ This month, over 200 Furkids animals found their forever homes, but we have to shoutout a few special adoptions..

Garfield, our FeLV+ boy who waited over two years, finally found his person and is loved beyond measure. Norbit, rescued after being found sealed in a garbage bag and thrown in a dumpster, is now safe and loved. Sombra and Tony Soprano found homes despite their FIV+ status, and our long-stay dogs Duke, Juno Summer, and Brittany finally got their happy endings too. And we can't forget to mention Gable - the American Eskimo who is now living beachside. We're not jealous at all! 😉

Our shelters are at critical capacity. Furkids is caring for nearly 1,300 cats and dogs - almost half of them being kittens under the age of six months old. Our shelters are full, and the only way we can keep saving lives is with more fosters. Tomorrow is the start of , and it couldn't come at a better time.

Even a one-week commitment frees up space, eases the burden on our staff and volunteers, and gives an animal the one-on-one time they deserve. You don't need experience, and you don't need to bring a thing - we provide food, treats, toys, leashes, crates, litter, vet care, and anything else you may need at no cost to you. If you've ever thought about fostering, now is the time. These animals need you.

Have you seen the new, cute dogs we've taken in recently?! 🐾 We have an incredible group of pups at Furkids right now of all ages, all breeds, all personalities. Playful ones. Cuddly ones. The ones who will claim your couch within five minutes and never give it back. And yes, the shy ones who just need a little patience and a lot of love.

Every single one of them came to us needing a second chance. And every single one of them deserves a forever home. If you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family, come meet them. We promise it's hard to leave without your heart feeling something. 💙

It's been another incredibly busy week here at Furkids, and we've been hard at work to save lives and find happy endings for our animals. Here's what we've been up to this week..

🐱 Yesterday, we rescued and made room for over 40 cats and kittens after they were exposed to Panleukopenia and were at-risk of euthanasia. Yesterday, their lives were in the balance, and today they're safe and decompressing. We will continue to monitor them and will provide updates! 🐶 Furkids pups Lola Jean and Angus Daniel had a blast visiting the folks at Arbor Terrace assisted living facility on Wednesday! There's nothing like seeing the smiling faces of people connecting with our animals.
🚧 We're putting the finishing touches on our Sutherlin Dog Shelter, which is set to open in just a few short days. We are anxiously awaiting approvals to open, and we will be sure to give you all the details when it happens!
🚗 Yesterday, we welcomed the team from marketing and communications team from Racetrac for a fun day of volunteering at our headquarters! Our dogs were so excited to get some much-needed enrichment and exercise and our kitties were happy to spend some quality time with you. Thank you for volunteering with us!
🐸 We see lots of cats and dogs everyday.. but on our 9-acre headquarters property, we see lots of wildlife as well! A staff member spotted this little guy hanging around our cat shelter yesterday. There's little surprises around every corner at Furkids!

44 lives were saved this morning.

Yesterday afternoon, we got a call that stopped us in our tracks, and we had to act fast. 40+ kittens were facing a crisis. They unfortunately had been exposed to the Panluekopenia (feline distemper) virus while at Cobb County Animal Services. Without intervention, they were all facing euthanasia that afternoon.

They put out an urgent plea. Furkids had two hours to assess the situation and commit. We said yes. Our team immediately mobilized and prepared a quarantine space. Over the next two weeks, they will monitor each kitten for illness, run tests and exams, and provide life-saving supportive care - all with the goal of getting them healthy and into forever homes. This medical care comes at a cost, and this work is only possible because of supporters like you.

Double the golden locks, double the love.. and one forever family to share it all with. Lilo & Stitch are looking for their ohana. 🌺💕

Lilo is petite, silly, and overflowing with fun. She gives the best kisses, follows her person everywhere, and somehow manages to be both the life of the party AND the ultimate lap dog. Stitch is gentle, joyful, and happiest with his head in your lap soaking up all the love - but don't let that fool you, because he also has a playful side and keeps up with his sister every step of the way.

Their foster says both of them are nearly fully housetrained, incredibly intelligent, and eager to please. They just need some consistency to truly thrive. Out of nearly 1,200 animals in our program, Keleigh holds one of the longest stays. 😿 This 7-year-old sweetheart was found as a stray and came to Furkids back in 2019, meaning she's spent almost her entire life waiting for a family to call her own. She got a glimpse of what that could feel like through foster care, but recently returned to the shelter and the adjustment has been hard on her sweet soul.

Keleigh really doesn't ask for much - a warm lap, a cozy bed, the occasional play session. She's easygoing, entertaining, endlessly sweet.. she just needs someone to finally choose her. 💙 Because of her FeLV+ status, Keleigh needs to be the only cat in the home, or paired with other FeLV+ cats.

Candy, Sandy, and Mandy would like to formally announce that they are accepting applications for a personal servant 👸✨ Requirements include carrying them everywhere, telling them they’re pretty 47 times a day, and surrendering at least half your bed immediately.

These microscopic queens came to us from animal control and are somehow equal parts trembling Victorian children and tiny divorcees with opinions. They’re super small, super sweet, and fully convinced that our shelter is just temporary housing until their yacht is ready.
