🌟 Staff Spotlight: COLE! 🌟

Cole joined the Northshore Humane Society in April 2024, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating his one-year anniversary 🎉 Since day one, he’s made an incredible impact on every department, earning nonstop praise for his strong work ethic, willingness to jump in wherever needed, and his calm, compassionate approach with our shelter pups.

He’s especially gifted at working with dogs who are fearful of men, becoming our go-to guy for building trust and confidence. Just recently, he joined the Rescue Team for his first transfer and didn’t hesitate to dive in!

Cole has formed amazing bonds with many of our dogs (shoutout to his BFFs Bill Furry and Giuseppe 🐶💙), and if you can’t find him, chances are he’s on a lunch break with a puppy in his arms, proudly repping his unofficial title as "Puppy Wrangler Extraordinaire".

Through storms (literally), stress, and the daily hustle, Cole is a steady, compassionate presence. We’re so lucky to have him on our team. THANK YOU, Cole, for all you do. Our shelter dogs are better because of you! 💛

🎉 It’s Veterinary Receptionist Week! 🎉

Time to show some major love to the incredible team at our front desk who keep things running smoothly every single day! 💻📞🐾

From answering calls and booking vet appointments to checking in/out clients and supporting our adopters, volunteers, and donors, our receptionists truly do it all. They’re the warm smile when you walk in, the calm voice on the phone, and the glue that keeps our operations together.

🌸🐾 This Spring Break, we had some very special visitors at the rescue! Members of Lake Harbor Middle School’s YAP (Youth and Pets) Club, along with their awesome families, spent the day with us for a fun and educational field trip! 💚

The group enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of our shelter and community vet clinic, learning all about the lifesaving programs we offer. There was plenty of cuddle time with our adoptable pups and kitties AND a couple of these amazing families even opened their hearts and homes by taking shelter pets with them to foster. 🏡❤️

Big thanks to these young advocates and their families!! The future is bright with animal lovers like you in it! ✨

This stunning six-year-old kitty was surrendered to our shelter after her previous owner developed allergies. As her name suggests, Sriracha's got a little spice to her personality, but don't let that fool you! 💞 She’s also incredibly affectionate and has a loving side that shines once she warms up to you.

Sriracha gets along well with other cats and should settle into a new home quickly. She’s the purr-fect blend of sass and sweetness; now all she needs is someone to love her forever! 🏠🐾

On Saturday, April 12th, Love was truly in the air as families and furry friends came together for a heartwarming day of adoptions and community connection! Nearly 20 pets including adorable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens found their forever homes 🎉🎉

The day was hosted by Keesler Federal Credit Union and guests enjoyed delicious bites from Creole Tomateaux Food Truck and had a chance to learn more about pet care and services from the wonderful team at PetSuites Northshore.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success, from volunteers and staff to all the families who opened their hearts and homes. Take a look at some of the sweetest moments captured during this unforgettable day of love, wagging tails, and happy beginnings 💕📸

What a night to remember! Our April Fine Wines for Canines 2025 event at Desi Vega's Steakhouse in Covington was a beautiful blend of fine dining, exceptional wines, and heartfelt support for homeless animals in our care 💛

In partnership with Uncorked Fine Wines, and proudly sponsored by About You In Home Care and Metals USA Plates & Shapes, guests enjoyed a four-course dinner perfectly paired with exquisite wines. Every moment helped raise critical funds for our no-kill rescue and community veterinary clinic.

Huge thanks to everyone who attended, donated, and made the evening such a success. We couldn’t do this without you!

Meet Balto, our blue-eyed heartthrob who’s ready to steal yours 💙 This handsome 3-year-old pup was sadly abandoned at our shelter, but he hasn’t let that dim his spark!

He may not come with a fancy DNA test, but trust us those fluffy ears, zoomies, and soulful husky howls say it all. 🐺💬 Balto is full of love, loyalty, and a little husky sass, everything you’d expect from a true snow dog. ❄️

💔 URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR KENNY 💔

Kenny is just a 2-month-old puppy who’s already endured more pain than any animal should. He was found on the side of the roadalone, terrified, and severely injured. A kind soul rushed him to our shelter, and what our team discovered was heartbreaking.

🩹 The pads on three of his paws are completely gone, leaving raw, exposed tissue.
🩺 He has a puncture wound on his elbow and a deep, painful injury on his belly.
🚗 Our medical team believes he was either thrown from a car or struck by one.

Miraculously, nothing is broken, but Kenny faces a long, painful road ahead. He will need months of wound care, daily bandage changes, and eventual surgery to close his injuries.

This little fighter is holding on, and we’re doing everything we can, but we need your help!! Every dollar goes directly to Kenny’s medical care. If you can donate, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to Kenny and to all of us fighting for his life.
