It's June 1st and the start of Pet Appreciation Week! This week was started in 1981 by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) to raise awareness about overall pet care.
Ways to celebrate your pet:
- Ensure their exam and vaccines are up to date and that they are on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention
- Consider microchipping your pet if they are not already
- Buy new toys
- Spend quality time with them!

If you do not currently have a pet, consider donating or volunteering with a local rescue!

Update to our post yesterday: The stones were surgically removed from the bladder!

Sassy came in to check an unrelated snake bite wound. During her physical exam, Dr. Holley felt the stones when palpating her abdomen and an x-ray was taken to confirm stones were present. We were able to get Sassy scheduled quickly for surgery! Sassy was not symptomatic for bladder stones. This is a great example of why physical exams are important!
