⚠️ RIDOH and DEM recommend avoiding contact with Watchaug Pond in Charlestown due to harmful algae blooms (HABs) caused by blue-green algae (cyanobacteria).

HABs can produce toxins that can be harmful to humans and animals. To minimize health risks:

• Avoid swimming, fishing, boating, or kayaking
• Don’t drink untreated water or eat fish from the pond
• Keep pets out of the water
• HABs can move around, so use caution in all areas of the pond.

In a new peer-reviewed review published in Veterinary Research Communications, researchers highlighted studies showing that both turmeric🫚 (Curcuma longa) and rosemary🌿 (Rosmarinus officinalis) slowed the growth of canine mammary cancer cells🦠 on their own. But when combined, the effects were even stronger.
