From "Happy Feet" to Focused and Calm! 🐾
Meet Maggie, a 10-month-old Goldendoodle.
When Maggie first started training, her nickname was "Happy Feet." Sitting still wasn't in her vocabulary. She was constantly moving, jumping, bouncing, and had very little impulse control. If a toy moved, she wanted it. If a treat appeared, she had to have it. If someone walked by, she was ready to greet them with all four paws off the ground.
Fast forward to today.
Watch Maggie confidently hold her position while balls, toys, and treats are tossed right in front of her. This isn't just a "stay" command—it's proof of the impulse control, focus, and self-regulation she has developed through consistent training.
And before anyone asks, yes, we're ignoring the diaper. 😂 Maggie decided to go into her first heat cycle during training. Instead of stopping, we worked through it. Female dogs often experience behavioral changes during a heat cycle, especially their first one. Training doesn't always happen under perfect conditions, and real-life progress means learning to work through distractions, changes, and challenges as they come.
Training isn't about creating a robot. It's about teaching dogs how to make good choices, even when exciting things are happening around them.
Maggie is still the happy, fun-loving puppy she's always been. The difference is that now she understands when it's time to play and when it's time to listen.
I couldn't be more proud of her progress and the hard work her family has put in. ❤️🐶
If your dog struggles with jumping, excitement, lack of impulse control, or staying focused around distractions, I'd love to help.
