Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon (SDRO) Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to rescue senior dogs aged 7 and older. We do not have a shelter.

We are a volunteer-driven, donor-funded organization. All dogs are fostered.

✨ Meet Kit, your new adventure bestie. 🐾💙

Kit is an 8-year-old, 50-pound Blue Australian Shepherd looking for a new home after her dad, who is 81, moves into assisted living. She’s been deeply loved, and now her family wants to find her a home where she’ll get plenty of love, activity and attention.

And this girl is not ready for the retirement home. 😂

🥾 Loves walks and hikes

💙 Affectionate, confident and loyal
🧠 Knows sit, stay and drop
🐕 Walks nicely on leash
👋 Social and friendly with new people
🏡 Would love a securely fenced yard

Kit has also completed puppy classes and spent two months working with a licensed trainer. She’s basically an outdoorsy girl with an impressive résumé. 💅

She hasn’t lived with other dogs and would likely prefer a cat-free home. At home, she’ll also happily alert you when someone is outside, then greet your guests with plenty of wiggles once they come in.

✨ Senior gentleman alert: Bodie is looking for his person 🐾

Bodie is a 14-year-old Shih Tzu who has spent his entire life deeply loved. Sadly, his mom has become ill and is hoping to find him a safe, loving home where she knows he’ll be cared for. ❤️

And honestly, Bodie has his retirement priorities figured out:

🚗 Car rides? Yes.
🐾 Leisurely walks? Absolutely.
🛏️ Sleeping in bed with his human? Non-negotiable.
🫶 Snuggling up next to his favorite person? His specialty.
🧖‍♂️ Grooming and spa days? This distinguished gentleman is a fan.

Bodie is affectionate, gentle, confident and an AKC Canine Good Citizen. His hearing isn’t what it used to be, but treats still get his attention. 😉

He’d thrive with a person or couple looking for a loyal little shadow and a quieter home. He hasn’t lived with dogs, cats or children, so he’ll need thoughtful introductions and a family who respects his boundaries.

At 14, Bodie isn’t looking for much. A soft place to land, someone to love, and a spot next to you. 🥹❤️

Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon is looking for a passionate, organized, community-minded Executive Director to help lead and strengthen our foster-based rescue. ❤️🐶

💻 Fully remote
⏰ Part-time, 20 hours/week with a flexible schedule
📍 Oregon-based, with Benton or Linn County residents preferred
💰 $30,000 annual compensation

We’re looking for someone with nonprofit, fundraising, and/or community engagement experience, plus a passion for helping senior dogs.

🚨 FOSTER NEEDED FOR LEXI 🐾💛

Lexi is 8 years old, and she’s been doing something incredibly brave: learning the world isn’t such a scary place. 🥹

When Lexi came into SDRO’s care in January, she had a lot of fear to work through. Since then, she has made so much progress with the help of her foster family and a professional trainer in Corvallis. We’re incredibly proud of how far she’s come. 🫶

Now, Lexi needs a new foster home to continue her journey. Her current fosters adore her, but due to other responsibilities, they’re no longer able to continue fostering her.

✨ Lexi needs a special human. Someone patient, compassionate, and willing to meet her where she is. Someone who understands trust takes time, but earning it is pretty special. 💕

And you won’t be doing it alone. Lexi’s trainer, current foster parents, and adoption coordinator, Jenny Sullivan, are all available to support you, answer questions, and help make the transition successful.

🐾 MEET MILLIE: 12 YEARS OLD, 37 POUNDS & AGING SUSPICIOUSLY WELL🕵️‍♀️🐾

Those puppy-dog ears. That giant smile. The fact that even her vet was surprised to learn she’s 12. Millie clearly did not get the memo about being a senior.

This sweet girl is alert, active, friendly, and ready to find someone to spend her retirement years with. Her breed? A mystery. Maybe Lab, maybe Corgi, maybe a little bit of everything. Whatever the mix, it worked. 🥹

Millie has spent her life in a quiet home where she’s rarely alone, and she’d love to keep it that way. She sleeps in her own bed, has free run of the house when her person is away, still handles stairs on her own, and enjoys car rides with the window cracked for some quality sniffing. 🚗🐶

🏡 Millie’s dream home:
• A quiet home with one or two people
• Someone who is home often and wants a companion nearby
• A securely fenced yard
• No cats
• Lots of love, companionship, and cozy places to nap 🩷

Millie has never lived with dogs or children, so we don’t know how she’d feel about sharing her home with them. She sometimes does well around other dogs but will also bark or growl, so the right match will be important.

Millie’s person loves her deeply, but health issues have made it difficult for her to safely care for Millie, and she wants to find her a loving home while she’s still able to help make sure Millie is safe and settled. ❤️

🐾 Adopt a Senior Dog

Browse our adoptable dogs on our website. Our listings are updated regularly with photos and information about each available dog.

Before adoption, every dog receives:
❤️ A veterinary exam
💉 Updated vaccinations
🦷 Dental care (if needed)
✂️ Spay/neuter
📍 A microchip

If additional medical care is needed, we do our best to provide it. Thanks to our generous donors, every senior dog gets the care they deserve before heading home. ❤️

Our adoption process is simple and focused on finding the best match for both you and your new best friend. 🏡

💙 Adoption Fees

🐶 Individual dog: $200
🐶🐶 Bonded pair: $300

⭐ 10% discount for military veterans and adopters age 60+.
