🎆 Don't forget to keep your four-legged family members safe this weekend! 🎆

‼️ While many of us may enjoy fireworks, they are often very scary for our pets. 🥺 Please keep your pets in mind when planning your weekend festivities and be proactive by:

💥 Checking your pet's ID tag to ensure it is securely fastened to their collar and has your up to date contact information on it, along with their microchip registration if they have one.

💥 Keeping your dog on a leash when taking them out for bathroom breaks and walks & ensuring that their collar/harness is properly fitted to them.

💥 Keeping your windows and doors closed, even if they have screens in them (pets can still get through).

💥 Never leaving your dog unattended in a fenced in yard (best to keep them on a leash if possible).

💥 Creating a safe, quiet space where your pet may hide if loud noises frighten them.

💥 While it may seem fun to bring your pets along to watch fireworks, they would likely much rather stay at home.

⚠️ If your dog does get loose, please call your local dog control officer and your local animal shelter to let them know they are missing, and to see if your dog is there. 🙏

Yes, you read that right! 🤓 We have 19 kittens that are available for adoption and are waiting for you to come meet them! 😻

Having so many kittens available for adoption means that you have even more adorable personalities and even cuter faces to choose from! 🥰 Don't forget that kitten adoptions are BOGO* through Saturday 7/5, so if it becomes hard to choose, you can simply adopt both. 😉

We are open tomorrow and Saturday from 11am to 5pm, but will be closed on Friday for the holiday. 🎆 We hope to see you soon! 🐾💜

📣 Special Announcement ‼️

Our office will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. 🇺🇸🎆 Volunteers who have completed orientation are still welcome to come in, we just ask that you let us know you are coming in ahead of time. 🫶 We will resume normal business hours on Saturday, July 5th (11am - 5pm). 🐾💜

What's better than one kitten? 🤔

TWO kittens! 😻 In all seriousness, adopting kittens together often leads to successful placements and happy outcomes because they have each other to lean on during the transition into their new home. 🫶🏡 Kittens also have a tendency to be mischievous 😼, and having a buddy to match their energy level helps to combat this by giving them someone to play with (instead of your curtains 😉)! 👯‍♀️

This low-cost program is available to those who have fallen on hard times and/or need financial assistance to care for their pet. 🐶🐱 Participants will be asked to provide proof of participation in public assistance programs like Medicaid, HEAP, SNAP, or others to be eligible for clinic services.

It’s going to be hot, hot, hot the next few days! ☀🥵

You’re not the only one who is going to be extra toasty, don’t forget to think about keeping your pets cool using these safety tips! 😎 Check them out below! 👇

💧 Always provide your pet with access to fresh, cool water - especially on hot summer days.

🐶 Seek shade when taking your pup out for potty breaks and avoid strenuous exercise. If your dog is one that thrives off of exercise and daily activity, it might be a good idea to take early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are lowest. During the day, consider other forms of enrichment that will keep them busy while inside.

🌡 Experts say pavement temperatures can reach up to 60 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the air, especially while under sunlight. Protect your pet’s feet by taking walks on the grass instead.

🚗 You never should leave your pet unattended in a car (especially if it’s not running), even on cooler days because the temperature inside can rise rapidly. Consider leaving them at home if you won’t be able to stay in the car with them or bring them inside with you during your travels.

🩺 Heatstroke is a serious, life-threatening medical emergency. Some of the symptoms can include; excessively panting/drooling, weakness, collapse, difficulty breathing, vomiting, having bloody diarrhea, and more. If your pet is showing signs, get them to a veterinarian immediately.
