National Cat Day is celebrated on October 29. It was created by Colleen Paige to bring awareness to the number of cats that need to be rescued each year.

Cats remind us that just when you think they’ve lost interest in you, they’ll turn around and melt your hearts. When it appears they’re too busy staring out at passing cars, chasing nylon mice, and sending tiny multi-colored balls to their under-the-refrigerator graves, they’ll somehow let you know that their very world revolves around you. Just wait. It’ll happen when you least expect it. Cats have their own timetable.

Here's 5 ways to celebrate National Cat Day:

🐈 SHOW us YOUR CATS in the comments below!

🐾 ADOPT a Cat
National Cat Day is all about raising awareness of shelter cats and reducing the number of unwanted cats that flood shelters every day. What better way to celebrate National Cat Day than by adopting a cat from your local shelter?

🐈VOLUNTEER at Your Local Shelter
Shelter cats need love too. Volunteer at your local shelter to play with the kittens, clean their spaces, scoop their litter boxes, and help with any other chores. Your visit is sure to be a bright spot in any shelter cat's day.

🐾FOSTER a Cat
Foster parents provide a loving home to an animal that may be recovering from surgery or illness, is too young to be adopted, or is in need of extra attention and give them the chance to become strong and healthy enough to be adopted into a permanent home. For more info about fostering cats, please email [email protected]

🐈DONATE to Your Local Shelter
Can't adopt a cat? You can still improve the lives of your local shelter cats. Consider donating food, blankets, or toys to your local shelter or other animal welfare organization. Those kitties living in shelters will feel a bit more comfortable while they're waiting for their forever homes.

Please visit our website to find info on available cats, fostering, volunteering, donating. https://www.bereaanimalrescue.com/

Auditioning for a cat food commercial… or a feline remake of The Birds? 😹🎬

Either way, these five sibling superstars are ready for their big break! Say hello to Billy, Dewey, Gale, Sidney, and Stu. They are officially on the market and looking for their forever homes.

If you have been thinking about adding some love to your life, adopting shelter kittens is the ultimate way to do it. These little ones are social, playful, and bursting with personality.

We would absolutely love to see them go in pairs! Adopting sibling pairs is a total game-changer:
• Built-in best friends for life
• Double the entertainment and twice the cuddles
• Less separation anxiety when you're away from home

Are you ready to meet the crew? Drop by the shelter to see if Billy, Dewey, Gale, Sidney, or Stu are the perfect match for you! 🐾✨

Man about town, Stitch, was able to go on another outing! He’s becoming famous! He charmed his way into the hearts of residents and staff alike at Generations Strongsville. He had a blast and hopes he'll be ready to find his furever home soon. 🐾❤️❣️

ARF is having an onsite Mini Fall Pet Supplies Sale sale during the November 1st nail clinic.

Due to the elimination of an off-site storage facility and abundance of some items, we’re having a pet supply overstock sale. While we appreciate all items donated throughout the year, certain items like retractable leashes, food bowls, collars, may not be used by ARF dogs and cats. Our overstock sale will benefit the animals of ARF while providing some low-cost supplies to the pets in our community. We hope to see you there!
