☀️ SUMMER SAFETY REMINDER ☀️

Your pet has many talents.

Finding the muddiest puddle in the yard? Absolutely.
Rolling in something questionable? Professional level.
Making good decisions in the summer heat? Not so much.

🐾 Help your furry family member survive their own questionable life choices this summer:

💧 Keep fresh water available at all times. Drinking from a muddy flowerpot is not a suitable hydration plan.

🌳 Provide plenty of shade. Sunbathing for six hours straight may seem like a good idea to your dog, but we respectfully disagree.

🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car. If you wouldn't sit in there wearing a fur coat, neither should they.

🌡️ Walk during cooler morning or evening hours. Sidewalks can get hot enough to turn paw pads into little furry pancakes.

🦟 Stay current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. The bugs are having a great summer and would love to invite your pet to the party.

🏊 Supervise pets around water. Not every dog is training for the Pet Olympics.

🗑️ Secure trash cans. While your pet may consider garbage a delicacy, their digestive system usually disagrees.

👧 Supervise children around pets and remind everyone to be respectful. Summer fun is better when everyone keeps all their fingers and tails intact.

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, and collapse. If you notice these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Remember: your pet depends on you to make smart decisions because they're busy eating bugs, chasing squirrels, and licking things they absolutely shouldn't.

Have a safe and fun summer! 🐶🐱❤️

🏷️ Is Your Pet Microchipped? 🐾

Collars and tags are important, but they can fall off or become unreadable. A microchip provides a permanent form of identification that greatly increases the chances of your pet being reunited with you if they ever become lost. 💙

Microchips are:
✔ Quick and simple to place
✔ About the size of a grain of rice
✔ Safe and long-lasting
✔ Scannable by veterinary clinics and shelters nationwide

Even indoor pets can accidentally slip out a door or window. A microchip helps ensure your contact information is always connected to your furry family member.

📌 Remember: A microchip only works if your registration information is kept up to date! If you’ve moved or changed phone numbers, be sure to update your pet’s information with the microchip company.

Have questions about microchipping your pet? Give us a call — we’d be happy to help!

Dr. Frack wants you to know that extra weight can have a serious impact on your pet’s health? 🐾

Just a few extra pounds can increase the risk of:
• Arthritis and joint pain
• Heart and breathing problems
• Diabetes
• Decreased energy and mobility
• Shorter lifespan

Many pet parents are surprised to learn how quickly calories can add up from treats, table scraps, and food toppers. Even small extras can make a big difference over time! 🍖

While treats are a great way to bond with your pet, too many high-calorie snacks or rich food toppers can contribute to unhealthy weight gain.

Keeping your pet at a healthy weight is one of the best ways to help them live a longer, happier life! 💙

Not sure if your pet is at an ideal weight? Our team would be happy to help evaluate their body condition and discuss nutrition, treats, and exercise recommendations tailored to your furry family member.

🐾 Randall wants you to know Dental Disease Is One of the Most Common Health Problems in Pets!🦷

By age 3, most dogs and cats already show signs of dental disease — and bad breath may be more than just “dog breath.”

Dental disease can lead to:
• Pain and difficulty eating
• Tartar buildup and inflamed gums
• Tooth loss
• Bacteria affecting the heart, liver, and kidneys

Signs your pet may need a dental check:
✔ Bad breath
✔ Drooling
✔ Pawing at the mouth
✔ Red or bleeding gums
✔ Trouble chewing

Regular dental care can help keep your pet healthier and happier for years to come! 💙

Holiday weekends are fun for the whole family — including our pets! 🐾
As you celebrate, remember a few simple safety tips to keep your furry friends happy and healthy:

🌭 Watch the table scraps
Foods like onions, grapes, chocolate, alcohol, and cooked bones can be dangerous for pets.

🗑️ Properly dispose of trash
Food wrappers, skewers, corn cobs, bones, and leftovers can quickly become dangerous if curious pets get into the garbage.

☀️ Avoid heat hazards
Never leave pets in parked cars — even for “just a minute.” Make sure they always have access to shade and fresh water.

🧴 Be cautious with bug sprays & sunscreen
Some human products can be toxic to pets. Use only pet-safe products when needed.

👧🐶 Supervise children around pets
Holiday gatherings can be overwhelming for dogs. Always supervise interactions between children and pets, and make sure pets have a quiet place to rest if they need a break.

🚪 Keep doors and gates securely closed
With guests coming and going, pets can easily slip outside unnoticed. Double check doors, fences, and gates to help prevent escapes.

🐶 A little extra caution can help make this holiday weekend safe and stress-free for everyone. Have a fun and safe holiday weekend from all of us at the clinic! ❤️🤍💙
