Emergency hold. Owner was taken to the hospital

This pet is currently in our care under an emergency hold. This type of hold means that this pet was involved in a situation where Animal Control responded with the Cleveland Police Department to obtain the pet. In these situations we may already know who the owner is but we may be holding the pet for the owner until the situation has been resolved. These pets will remain on this hold until we receive further information or instruction regarding the pet’s owner. We often receive these pets under this type of hold due to the owner being arrested, the pet was involved in a car wreck, a medical emergency, structure fire, etc. In some situations, the pet may not be claimed by the owner due to either the amount of jail time from their arrest, owner is deceased, or lack of family in the area to continue caring for the pet. If this is the case the pet may become available for adoption, but only after all other efforts to reach a family member have been exhausted.
Please be kind and respectful towards these pets and their families as they have both been through the emergency together. If you adopt a pet that has been on an emergency hold please be patient with them while they are adapting.

The City of Cleveland guidelines state that the CACD is only permitted to provide vetting for sick/injured pets on a STRAY hold and only until the pet’s legal stray hold period has been completed. We do not have a vet on our staff, so all sick/injured pets will have to be adopted/rescued by the date posted.
The CACD is a stressful environment that is not suitable for urgent animals to stay due to potential risk of their illness spreading to other adoptable pets that are portraying as healthy. We do not have access/funds to necessary medical supplies that is needed to provide them with proper care like a vet’s office would.
As per the City of Cleveland guidelines for an OWNER SURRENDERED pet, these pets do not receive any vaccinations/vet treatment upon entry, because the owner is surrendering them to our CACD as is.

*Found on Clemmer st. Very skinny so we took it to the vet for observation.

The City of Cleveland guidelines state that the CACD is only permitted to provide vetting for sick/injured pets on a STRAY hold and only until the pet’s legal stray hold period has been completed. We do not have a vet on our staff, so all sick/injured pets will have to be adopted/rescued by the date posted.
