It’s $5 Friday! Or one of our supporters now calls it Fido Friday! Any amount is appreciated and 💯 goes directly to the dogs medical needs & food.
This week has been full of ups and downs.
First, Fraggle had his very much needed dental and mass removal on Tuesday. He did great with the surgery and we are waiting for biopsy results on the mass that was removed. He has scratched a hot spot next to his incision where his skin was shaved for surgery and it’s been challenging to keep that covered but not covered as the suture site cannot be covered. I’ve wrapped it for hours off & in to give that area a break, I’ve put a sock on him (he got it off), I treated it with a healing powder .. as of this morning it’s still irritated.
Second, Charlee has been up and down. The fluids and cerenia injection definitely made her feel better. But with her being so sensitive and scared to be restrained this is not an option long term. Her kidney function is deteriorating. She ate the one kidney diet for 2 days and lost interest. I’m going to try others but right now she wants her fresh pet and baby food and it’s more important to keep her eating and happy and comfortable. . We’ve started her on minimal meds to keep her comfortable too. Please keep our sweet donkey dog girl in your prayers and send her all the good stuff. We’re going to need it.
Third, Sparky was able to get to his incision site and opened up an area and he now has an inside suture hanging out. He is double coned now and cannot reach it and on antibiotics as it is infected. He goes to the vet this Sunday morning. He is also having some behavioral issues that need to be addressed once he’s healed.
Forth, Chewie needs his mouth rechecked as we have some concerns where his abscessed teeth were removed but now the opposite teeth may be hitting the gums where there’s no teeth and causing irritation. He’s going to the vet Sunday.
Our intake is closed until Sassy, Chewie and hopefully Sparky are all adopted. And we raise the funds to be able to save more dogs.
Saying no to the seniors sitting in shelters all day everyday takes its toll on me, but I am doing all that I can. Somedays it feels like more than I can. Most people don’t realize I work 50 + hours a week at my business all while trying to run this rescue. Lately the rescue is running me.
Please donate if you can, it’s been non stop medical procedures with the dogs. A bunch of $5 donations can add up to a lot. Even when the dogs are healed from their medical procedures Eugene, Charlotte and Fraggle will have ongoing medical for the rest of their lives. Sassy will have ongoing medical every day/month for the rest of her life & until she is adopted.
Pic of sweet girl Charlee because she’s adorable.
