Hard to believe it’s one month today, trying to get used to this quiet, uhg🥲 Love you Dolcee
🐾❤️🌈🐾
You don’t understand how loud silence can be
until the collar stops jingling.
That sudden, impossible quiet cracks you open in places
you didn’t know could break.
It’s the moment you realize you’ll never hear those paws race to the door,
never feel that warm weight lean into your leg,
never catch those eyes watching the window for your return.
Outside, buses sigh and neighbors laugh like it’s any other day.
Inside, you hover at the edge of the rug,
still stepping wide around the sun-spot on the floor
as if they’re sleeping there.
You set down the bowl out of habit.
Your keys don’t cause a stampede.
A toy under the couch becomes an artifact.
This is when sadness grows roots.
When loneliness shifts from a passing cloud
to the weather inside your home.
Because when you say goodbye to your pet,
you don’t just lose an animal—
you lose the heartbeat that walked outside your body,
the translator of your quiet,
the piece of ordinary everyday that made it feel like home.
