I hate to post such a long message but please read it through to the end - THANKS
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, for the past 7 ½ years, Diana and I have run a ministry to at-risk teens and young adults. Called “Redeemer’s Ranch” we use horses to help develop relationships with the kids. (Check out our page at redeemersranchwi.)
The bottom line is evangelism and discipleship. We have seen many young people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It’s been a challenge. About 90% of the kids that come here are from broken homes or homes that have drug and alcohol problems. Most of the young ladies have been sexually abused in some way. We have helped a number of teens that were pregnant. Physical abuse is common.
God has truly blessed our ministry. He has changed lives and healed broken hearts. He has brought broken families back together. Over the years, 101 people have stayed with us short term. He has given both of us the gifts of evangelism and hospitality. We have an awesome church family that helps out a lot. He has also provided teens that work here part-time doing chores each day.
We also use fishing and other outdoor activities to help reach the kids. In the past, if we took someone fishing, we would let them use our equipment and tackle. This year we changed that a bit. Gathering donated rods, reels and tackle, we can now give the teens their own rod, reel and tackle box full of lures! That way they can go on their own or with someone else. Our hope is that they will take up fishing instead of getting in trouble doing other things.
What you may not know is that we have been paying all the expenses for this ministry out of our own pockets, Using some inheritance and disability payments (I lost the sight in my left eye) we have been able to buy 40 acres in northern Wisconsin, build a house (with three extra bedrooms) and two barns. Buy horses and tack, etc. Feed bills, hay, vets bills, farrier services, you name it.
The problem is that the money is gone! Saving, inheritance, disability, all used up. We were just able to get set up with the State of Wisconsin as a non-profit. We’re still working on the feds (I.R.S.) to complete things.
We need help. Lots of it. We’re looking at a $2,000 bill for hay for next winter soon. $400 a month for feed. $1,000 for the vet. The bills keep coming. Our only income is our disability income that just covers our monthly household expenses.
Could you prayerfully consider if God is calling you to partner with us in this important ministry to at-risk young people? If you feel lead to help, any amount would be awesome!
Thank you and may God richly bless you!
