Certified dog trainer. Private classes, group classes, in home and board and train. Leah has been training professionally now for 20 years.

She is a certified dog trainer, worked with Train A Dog Save A Warrior for 12 years and was a Mentor for ABC for 5 years. Leah believes that just like kids not all dogs learn the same. She will find a training program that works best for you and your dogs. She is a mostly positive reinforcement dog trainer and using a method developed by Dr Mary Belle Adelman called the Optimum Placement Technique (OPT). Leah owns 8 dogs all who walk perfect and are very well behaved on just flat buckle collars. Most of her dogs are rescues with some really bad history's of aggression. Leah has work with all types of aggression, fearfulness, and stubborn dogs. She will find a way to motivate your dog into learning in the most positive manner possible. Roll Over offers Private one on one training sessions both at our facility or in your home. Board and train Mateo and Willow attended our basic obedience group class so they could visit with their owners and work with them. This is one thing we offer with our board and train is you get visits with your dog it helps me modify their training program so that they will respond and listen to you better. Mateo did great we showed her how to muzzle him and brush him and went to give him I'll leave it command and taught her all of his basics that he's been working on. Willow was definitely full of it today and took a lot more work we have got to get her to stop using her body weight for manipulation. Willow is 7 months old and weighs probably 100 lb now she weighed 90 when she came in. She has definitely learned how to use her weight to her advantage and was definitely manipulating her owner in training today. She's got a few more weeks with me so we can work on that and get her better with it. Most of it was she was just super excited to see her owner. She definitely did not like when I went to the car to get things she thought I was leaving her. They do get attached to me and they do love me that's for sure.

I say Fridays is my day and my only day off so typically I try to do something for myself go to lunch or get my hair done or buy me a new outfit. But most Fridays I'm still doing something whether it's taking a dog home from their boarding train or picking a dog up or even taking care of my own dogs. Today my little Yorkie Loki got a nice trim he's not finished yet I'll finish him tomorrow he is one who his patients wears very thin and can only handle so much at a time. But I am so thankful for my friend Heather who helped me out with a new set of clippers well new to me. They worked so well and she gave me all kinds of little tools to do grooming on dogs and to help me with my own. Loki will feel much better and be a lot happier now that he can have regular trims properly. I just love his cute little face and I didn't have to shave involved that was even better cuz a lot of times by the time I get my clippers to work to be able to shave him or buy a new set he's all matted up and has to have a full shave down. Not today I have the cute little boy cut.

Apollo had a training session at The Greenway today. This was his first time going to The Greenway. We ended up turning it into a cute photo session along with training. He is so beautiful and so photogenic but boy is this dog a terrorist with his owner. She has really struggled with his kennel aggression and food aggression and his independence. His neuter appointment was scheduled with the humane society and they canceled it so we're trying to find a vet who can get it done soon because he's not going to get better without being neutered. He is marking up her house chewing things up counter surfing and testing every limit that she has. I told him today I said the only reason she's still tolerating your behavior is because you sure are cute. He was a very good boy at the greenway and definitely needs more training like that because the distractions overway food toys and us.

Cinnabon had his third training session today. This little boy is reactive towards dogs and some people. Today we learned he's really good until he sees another dog and that's what triggers his reaction towards people. We only got to see one dog walking at The Greenway today and after that he was barking at a lot of people so we worked a lot on his stays and leave it and watch me. He is such a smart good boy and really responds well. He's supposed to be a cavapoo which is a King Charles spaniel poodle mix. But we actually believe we don't see any poodle in him at all and he acts more like a Dachshund and has a very long back.

As you all know I closed this weekend to spend time with my mom and dad as they came up from Texas. We are having a great time visiting each other. I have been made aware of the news and what's going on with the dog trainer in hopkinsville who committed some of the worst acts ever. I am always willing to update owners on their dogs progress and conditions and send pictures and videos when asked and post pictures or videos at least once a week of all of our board and train dogs. We asked that owners provide the food and when the dog runs low we contact the owners and will even allow the owners to visit the dogs so that they can see their body conditions and what is going on with the dogs. As you will hear in some of my videos your dogs are in my home. They are in my living room. Most of my videos are in our kitchen or outside because it can be a little loud when the dogs hear me working with somebody else they get excited and jealous. It saddens me that the dog training industry does not have more requirements. Over the years that I have been here in Clarksville this is the third case of animal cruelty that I have seen from a so-called dog trainer! All three of these people have no certifications in dog training whatsoever. It saddens me that people see dollar symbols more than they see a dog who needs trust and understanding and is very capable of learning with something other than a shock collar. All three of the people that I can name that have been charged with animal cruelty we're shock collar trainers! If you cannot take the time to learn a dog and understand it before making a decision to use a harsh method to train it then you are not a dog trainer! When we go to school for certifications that proves that we are actually interested in the dogs and that we love and care for them because we want what's best for them to come up with the best newest methods etc. I personally spent thousands of dollars on my certifications and I've been mentored by many dog trainers some really really great ones and a couple horrible ones that I had to walk away from immediately. Yes you should be cautious when picking a dog trainer and feel free to ask questions. I personally don't allow people to come to my home. It's like I bring my work home with me but I still want my peace and sanctuary. I have given many customers my address as they want to know where their dog is. But I have also told them if you randomly show up to my house you will take your dog home with you. I am more than willing to let owners visit with their dogs get pictures and videos and give updates every week. It can be overwhelming to give an update every day as there is not always an update to give. Learning a new behavior can take 7 to 10 days for the dog to master that behavior.

Mateo got a restart haircut. He definitely was way overdue for a full shave down. This poor boy skin was so red and he had hives the bath helped calm the hives down and we're going to give him some Benadryl to help with that. The thing with Doodles is when they become matted they can get skin infections and all kinds of bacteria that builds up underneath the coat. Now that he's had a full shave down as his hair grows back he can be maintained as he loves being brushed now. He only growled a couple times and we did not have him snap at all. He did show teeth while we were doing his mouth with no muzzle on and did good with a verbal correction and redirection. I really appreciate Heather working with me she took extra time out of her day to come help me get this done. She also gave me tools to be able to continue to work with dogs like Mateo keeping them trimmed and working on grooming in a safer manner. She wasn't completely happy with his groom but Mateo had enough and we got a lot done. I will continue his maintenance and before he goes home he will go back for another follow-up grooming session. Doodles are a lot of work when it comes to grooming and it is very important that they stay on a strict 4 week schedule. Mateo went to the groomer regularly and since June he has started showing aggression and the groomer was no longer able to groom him. He was sent to me for training so that we can work through this and get him responding better with a groomer again. Heather has tons of certifications and education in dog grooming and is actually taking a dog training course also to help her more with handling dogs like Mateo.

Muzzle training is very important when you have a dog who has some insecurity and causes snippiness. This helps keep your groomer and your veterinarian safe and sometimes you if your dog is injured. Mateo loves muzzle training but he gets bored with it quick. We normally practice about 5 to 10 minutes a few times a day with him just putting his nose in the muzzle on his own and me not having to grab him and forcefully muzzle him.
