📋About the Microchipping Procedure

▪️Dog and cat microchipping is a simple procedure. A veterinarian simply injects a microchip for pets, about the size of a grain of rice (12mm), beneath the surface of your pet's skin between the shoulder blades.

▪️The process is similar to an injection and takes only a few seconds.

▪️No anesthetic is required.

🚨Pet microchips are not tracking devices. They are radio-frequency identification (RFID) implants that provide permanent ID for your pet.🚨

🐱🐶Both cats and dogs need to be microchipped.

📁How the Microchip Works

▪️A HomeAgain microchip is a permanent pet ID. The microchip itself has no internal energy source, so it will last the life of your pet.

▪️It is read by passing a microchip scanner over the pet's shoulder blades. The scanner emits a low radio frequency that provides the power necessary where the chip is located to transmit the microchip's unique cat or dog ID code and positively identify the pet.

🏡How the Microchip Brings Your Pet Home

▪️HomeAgain's standard chip is the only dog & cat microchipping product on the market today that has the patented anti-migration feature to help ensure that the microchip will stay in place so that it may be easily located and scanned.

🏩If your pet gets lost and is taken to an animal shelter or veterinarian, they will scan the microchip to read its unique dog or cat ID code. This is the number used by HomeAgain to identify the pet and retrieve your contact information, which is used to contact you and reunite you with your pet.

💊If loud noises make your pet anxious, please call and fill their medication today

🐾 Make sure your pets have on collars with correct ID and phone number to reach you (Walmart in Clanton has a tag kiosk)

🔖Make sure your pets’ microchip information is up to date in case they are picked up by animal control or scanned at a veterinarian. *There is still time to get them microchipped before Friday if you haven’t already done so*

🦮If your pet is a flight risk, please be sure to leash walk them and keep them in a secure area on the days leading up to and the days after the holiday. Fireworks aren’t just on the 4th

🚨IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

📞Please call before you come

🐾We are only able to accommodate 3-4 walk-in patients per afternoon. This means that we fit walk-in appointments between our regularly scheduled appointments and there will be a wait time.

🦴Moving forward, we will be unable to take walk-ins if they are not already on our schedule. We are a one doctor practice and in order to provide the best care possible to each patient, we are limited to the number of cases we can see per day.

🐱This is also the case for drop-offs. We are a full service hospital and boarding facility. We schedule surgeries and drop-off appointments based on space available in our kennel.

🐶We do not see appointments or walk-ins on Thursdays. This is a reserved surgery day.

✏️To avoid any confusion or scheduling issues, please call ahead before you come. Thank you for your understanding and for allowing us to care for your pets!

A little about us

Cox Veterinary Hospital, P.C. is a state of the art full-service veterinary facility. Dr. Michael Cox opened his practice in August 1985. We offer surgery every day of the week (excluding Wednesday), by appointment only. We are the only veterinary hospital in the county to offer state of the art laser surgery. We do most of the blood work needed for your pet on site. We provide digital X-ray's which can be forwarded on to a specialist if necessary.

We have heated and air-condition indoor boarding facilities for short and long term Boarding. Tours of the facilities are available by appointment. We offer a full range of specialty services and Pet Food and Supplies.

We have a very knowledgeable and caring Staff. Marilyn, Kate, Connie, Kaitlyn, and Dr. Cox would love for you to come in and meet them!
