Blueberry Tetras can be easy to overlook while in the store, especially if you are unfamiliar with them. They are a small, peaceful species of tetra that are slowly gaining popularity amongst planted aquarium keepers. When kept in large groups under good lighting their colors will really shine and you'll quickly see why they're called Blueberry Tetras.

The fish keeping hobby has seen many trends come and go, but angelfish tend to always maintain their popularity. They have a ton of personality, come in a variety of colors/patterns and are one of the most rewarding fish to watch grow out. When placed in groups, males and females will easily pair themselves up and often become a hobbyist's first cichlid breeding project.

The first products we're excited to highlight are their world renowned plant fertilizers.

APT 1 contains all essential nutrients for plants except for nitrogen and phosphorous to help limit algae in tanks where nutrients run high. This formula is perfect for tanks with heavy fish loads or for tanks with slower growing, less demanding plants.

APT 3 has all the nutrients plants need and is best used in heavily planted tanks with lower fish loads. It contains a slight nitrate limiting formula which helps to bring out more vibrant colors in red plants.

Pygmy Corys are one of those fish that stores have a hard time keeping in stock due to their popularity. These social catfish spend much more time swimming in the water column than other bottom-dwelling corys.
Maxing out at around 1 inch, they tend to do best when kept in large groups in peaceful planted aquariums. As a bonus, they are very easy to breed and don't tend to eat their young.

As we have officially entered outdoor pond season, we consistently get asked about plants that can be purchased to be kept outside, especially floating plants like water lettuce, salvinia, frogbit and red root floaters.

You may be shocked to find out that 2 of those common floating plants, Water Lettuce and Salvinia, are actually illegal in Ohio. According to the Ohio Department of Agriculture it is illegal for any person to "sell, offer for sale, propagate, distribute, import or intentionally cause the dissemination of any invasive plant in Ohio"

As a seller, the responsibility of ensuring these laws are followed falls on us first, and the consumer second. For this reason, the only floating plants we offer for purchase are Amazon Frogbit and Red Root floaters.

Help us keep Ohio's waterways clean and ensure this hobby is allowed to continue long into the future!

Blue Jelly Neocaridina are now in stock!

These shrimp offer a much lighter and softer blue than standard Blue Velvet or Blue Diamond varieties. The "jelly" part of their name from the way their semi-transparent blue bodies catch the light, giving them a stunning "lit from within" appearance.

The most recognized rainbowfish species has to be the Boesemani Rainbow. Coming from areas with dense vegetation, rainbowfish will appreciate larger planted aquariums with lots of open space for swimming. They are highly active fish, especially during feeding and breeding times where the males will often be seen "flashing" their bright colors to show off for the females in the group.
