What I adore about thos video is that its not perfect. The reality of training horses is that mistakes happen. Its how you handle those mistakes and turn them into positive learning experiences that make the difference. Here you see Prince getting confused, anxious, and tense. You also see Prince relaxing and coming through to the contact. The difference is significantly easier to spot ba****ck. Can you spot it?

Moments like this I wish I could talk to 10 year old me. The me who was bullied for loving horses more than humans. The me who was being told she was dreaming to big. Who spent every birthday and Christmas asking for a horse. The me who was told she was never good enough to train horses. Who was told time and time again that horses were to dangerous. The me who was belittled and gaslight for staying loyal to the horse as opposed to the sport. It is possible to put the horses first and still succeed. And no dream is ever to big so long as you are willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to get there. Consider this your sign to never stop being you, whoever that is 💕

When it gets this cold, we do what i call "brain work"! In the case of Angel, its the continual education of trust and bravery! With the right weather conditions scents - many undetectable to the human nose - carry strongly through the air. Some of these scents are very triggering for Angel, reminding her of her life before us. In these moments, we are her crutch to the scary things she may one day be able to face on her own! Until then, remaining her safe space through terrifying flash backs, is the most important thing we can do 💕

Cold temps mean we have to change what we ask for from our horses! Angel unfortunately struggles with asthma and arthritis in the cold. She also gets overstimulated and anxious very quickly during these temperature changes. So we aim for slow and relaxed, emphasizing what an AMAZING girl she is when she allows us to help work through her anxiety! Keeping the questions easy is key for confidence building! The mental health of our 4 legged teammates is just as important as theor physical health and something we heavily emphasize. Happy horses, happy heart ❤️

Despite the cold, we were able to get out in the sunshine and soothe the soul 💕

A year ago today Dyna came home!
Dyna has learned so many things this past year, yet the most important of them were not taught while riding. He has figured out how to handle difficult questions with grace. Discovered how to safely communicate anxiety, confusion, joy, and even excitement! His personality shines through as he happily takes care of beginners, especially little kids. With amazing movements and an even better brain, he shows so much potential for the dressage arena. He, however, prefers jumping and galloping through the woods. Even more important than all of that, he learned how to be a horse. Social ques, herd structure, how to roll, how to play, that grass is edible, and even the existence of treats were all new to him! Watching him blossom from the subdued racehorse into the most loving, caring, and trustworthy lover boy has been one of life's greatest privileges. I cannot wait to see the places he will go in 2026 and beyond! The photos start with the most recent and go back in time to when he forst came home!

Christmas Angel "Angel"
I chose today to share the journey that this girl has gone through in the last 3 years as today is her Gotcha Day! Angel is currently Training Level, also jumping 2' and under! Enjoy the visual transformation she has undergone. The first picture was taken November 2025. The photos then go backwards in time until December 20 2022.
Now for the journey:
When Angel was purchased by Wendy Orman we knew she had ulcers. What we did not know was the reason behind them. It was not the stress of sale and transport, as we suspected. After extensive testing, we discovered our girl had mercury poisoning from vaccines administered prior to purchase. The mercury was not only causing extreme headaches, but disrupting her entire GI system. With the help of some medications and supplements, along with dietary changes, and a lot of TLC, she slowly improved. Her eyes brightened, she nickered at people and horses alike, she wanted to be outside, and lastly, but not least, she gained weight and began to fill out. She began to become the Angel we know and love. Patiently teaching not just humans, but horses too! Graciously taking young horses under her wing and showing them the ropes of living in a herd. Despite standing 16.3, there is no one I trust more to generously teach little kids the basics of riding. Gracefully showing more advanced riders the keys to success both in and out of the saddle. She has become her namesake, clearly heaven sent, and loving all she does!

Saddlelake Royal Arrival "Prince"
I chose today to make my first post about the horse who started it all, as 4 years ago today was the first time I met him. He is currently showing Training Level, but has shown through 2nd 2 successfully. He is not a fan of jumping, but he finds ground poles and small cross rails kind of fun! He prefer an experienced rider off the lunge line, but tolerates just about anything on it. Enjoy the visual transformation he went trough with a little TLC! The first picture was taken November 2025. The photos the go backwards in time to 4 years ago to the day.
Now for our story:
Prince came to me through a former trainer, whom I was working for at the time. His previous owner came to me as she had to stop using him in her program because he was "dangerous and unpredictable." As it turns out, Prince was simply scared and in pain. After losing sight in his left eye, he was disciplined for his uncertain and fearful responses. Despite the trauma, he was brave enough to trust me and gracious enough to until I truly understood. After considerable work, patience, and understanding, Prince and I were able to work together to get him confident and comfortable again. With the help of many amazing people, we got rid of physical pain and began healing him emotionally In April I will have owner him for 3 years - 3 years of nothing but nut loving, supporting, and listening to each other. He has turned into my rock as I have turned into his. For all that I have taught him, he is the educator. Not just of me, but of anyone who decides to love him!
