4 Paws for Ability at UC 4 Paws for Ability is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers. Here at UC, we help by socializing and do basic training for their service dogs.

4 Paws for Ability is a non-profit organization that was started in 1998 by Karen Shirk. She was denied a service dog by organizations. This is when 4 Paws for Ability was started. Their goal is to Enrich the lives of children with disabilities by the training and placement of quality, task trained service dogs to provide increased independence for the children and assistance to their families. He

re at UC, students have the opportunity to stand behind this organization and lend a helping hand by socializing and training service dogs for a semester.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Brenna Prem 🎓

Brenna joined 4 Paws back in 2020 as a secondary handler. She remembers spending early mornings in her dorm lobby, with a pup named PJ’s when there was nowhere to socialize due to Covid. Brenna says “Anytime you saw me, I usually had an SDiT right beside me. I was able to bring foster pups home for the holidays, attend countless socialization opportunities, and even foster 3 of my own.” Congratulations Brenna 🎉
