Some of the FB Birdie x RD Bruce otter babies 😍😍😍 they’re two weeks old and starting to venture from the nest a little.

If you haven’t seen Redman’s Pops in person, here he is…
I brought him into the barn last year I believe to help with the chocolate otter program. This. Guy. Is. PHENOMENAL. He’s throwing big fast growing babies, AND he’s got the temperament of a ragdoll cat!!!! Note his weight….!!!!!
No, he’s not show standard bc he’s way over the SOP. But by golly if he’s not putting some size on the right does in the barn.

Who makes tattoo boxes that can ship? Asking for a friend, PFA!

Y’all were wondering what I was going to make with that hardware I got from the Do Good Grant… here ya go!
I put together a bunch of 36” stackers so I can reach babies and moms without stooping too low or needing a step stool.
The does are super happy in their new digs.

We’re down to 20 poppers from 23 in about a week. Birdie had 3 faders in her litter and as they became weaker I made the call to humanely cull them.
I told a new bunny friend just the other day that it hurts my heart to watch them starve and get cold. I would rather they go to good use than suffer.
That’s still quite a few babies to be watching for potential breeders and show buns.
I share my experiences with my stock so that hopefully others will be able to feel confident in making the hard calls in their herd.

After the scheduled kindlings, we have 23 poppers between 3 nest boxes.
The new guy on the block, BSF Lafayette, is now proven AND we know carries REW. These babies are GINORMOUS. Six of them from Polly.
FBR Birdie almost lost a kit on the floor but my faithful barn kitty EmmyLou literally pointed it out to me on the ground. Bruce the Shark is now proven and really threw some color to these otters!
RD Nellie has a box full of 8 gorgeous selfs out of LL Biff. Black, chocolates, and broken of each.

Not a bunny pic, but it does show ALLLLL the colors, just like in my nest boxes!!!! 🥳🥳🥳

Birdie x Bruce have 9 various otters
Nellie x Biff have 8 various self including chocolate and broken chocolates
Polly Pocket was going in to labor when I did chores this evening!!!! This is Black Sheep Farm & Rabbitry Lafayette’s very first litter!!!! I. Am. Busting. With excitement.

We have nesters!!! Impatiently awaiting the arrival of these babies…
BUT!!!
FBR Birdie kindled 9 this morning by RD Bruce. I’m very excited to see them grow. Photos to come in the near future. Should be lots of otters, broken and solid, full color and dilute… and all chocolate carriers.

Y’all. I was flabbergasted the other day. I got a call from a friend that her husband had received a small grant to do something kind for an organization of his choosing. And he picked Red Door Rabbitry.

So yesterday, M and J brought the rabbitry a bunch of hardware for cage building, AND about a month or so supply of non GMO rabbit feed!!! Big big shout out to Modern Woodmen of America, and to M for thinking of my bougie bunny operation!

There were some unknown to them financial issues going on with me this month and it was definitely a God-wink to be on the receiving end of this kindness. Especially when it’s kickoff of breeding season and the does are going to start needing extra calories soon!!!

Leslie’s Lovlies’ Biff (whose parents were both Red Door bred) enjoyed his one on one time and getting all the pets before and after this photo.

Gorgeous Clue (Fuzzy Butts) and Pops (Redman Family OH) had a date today! She lifted first time he tried. Hoping she’s carrying chocolate back in her lines somewhere…
