Yesterday, we partnered with Summer, one of our valued rescue partners, to save four cats from Greene County Animal Control. These cats had been part of a loving home, but their owner recently passed away. With no other options available, the family made the heartbreaking decision to relinquish them to Animal Control—and their time had run out.
We could not allow their story to end there. All four cats are now safe at our resort.
Sam, a long-haired orange and white neutered male, is diabetic. With little to no medical history available—particularly regarding his insulin dosage—we made the immediate decision to transport him directly to Dr. Vickie at Vet Care Animal Hospital for testing and observation. Sam will remain hospitalized for several days while his glucose levels are stabilized and a safe treatment plan is established.
Soto, a Siamese spayed female, was initially hesitant and unsure of attention. Once she realized she was safe, she began to relax and is now accepting love and affection from our staff.
Millie, a gray tabby spayed female, is a gentle and affectionate soul. Despite her entire world being turned upside down, she is eager to make new human friends and has already shown her sweet, trusting nature.
Oscar, a gray neutered male, is significantly overweight and has ongoing skin issues that will need veterinary care. We’ve affectionately nicknamed him “the loaf.” He is incredibly lovable and undeniably smoochable.
While we were in the middle of assessing and settling these four new rescue cats, one of our own—Ginger Spice, an eight-month-old orange tabby female—began experiencing serious medical issues of her own. Ginger is also under the care of Dr. Vickie, and her treatment is expected to be costly.
Ginger had already chosen her person—one of our employees, Jacob. Because of that bond, and because of the love she has found here, we are fully committed to raising the funds needed to save her life.
There is truly no such thing as an inexpensive animal in rescue, especially when medical needs arise and our hearts become deeply invested. We are incredibly grateful for the support we have recently received, but we are once again asking for help to save five lives.
