Here’s another little girl we just saved. The rescuers in Downey named her Silly Paws. She’s a polydactyl. She came into the shelter pregnant. The shelter spayed her and it went all downhill following that surgery. Shelter said she had pneumonia and was not eating and her breathing was labored. The networking rescuers put out a plea to help. She was going to be euthanized. HOPE said not today. We were going to give her a chance. We were determined not to let her die and be added to the awful numbers of cats that die in shelter confinement.

We made arrangements with a local hospital that would take her in even in her contagoius condition as we thought she was supposed to be. She needed immediate and specialized care. However, much to everyone’s surprise, she didn’t have pneumonia. She had an infection in her mouth. It wasn’t calici virus. It was a terrible infection and she had a rather large abscess in her mouth around her gums which caused her labored breathing and being unable to breathe. The caring veterinarian excised it (see photo). Test after test was run. All were negative.

The veterinary technicians were great and they took excellent care of our girl while she was staying with them. We named her Polly. See the additional photos in the comments. Polly is now healthy and will be released from the hospital tomorrow. She will be going into foster care to recover more and then will be available for adoption.

HOPE doesn’t post often because we are too busy saving lives. Please know that we can only save sick and abandoned cats and dogs because of your support. We appreciate your donations and are wise stewards of the gifts given to us.

We thank you from our Silly Paws girl named Polly. You made a difference in a worthy life today.
