Most people know the tragic story of the Titanic, but few have heard of Jenny, the cat who lived on the ship and was likely the only one who sensed what was coming. Jenny wasn't just any cat. She was the Titanic's official mouse hunter, brought on board to keep the rodent population under control. During the ship's sea trials, she gave birth to a litter of kittens and was lovingly cared for by a worker named Jim Mulholland. Jim prepared a cozy nest for her and her kittens near the kitchen, warm with the heat from the boilers. He even shared scraps of food with her during his breaks. This quiet routine gave him a sense of calm amidst the chaos of preparing the most luxurious ship in history for its maiden voyage. But something strange happened. A few days before the Titanic set sail from Southampton to New York, Jenny's behavior changed. She became restless. And then, without warning, she started taking her kittens one by one, gently holding them by the neck, and removing them from the ship. She went down the gangway again and again, until all her kittens were safely on dry land. Jim watched in amazement. And in that moment, something clicked. "This cat knows something... something we don't." Trusting his intuition - or perhaps hers - Jim gathered his things and discreetly left the ship. He never got back on board. The Titanic set sail without him. We all know what happened next. Years later, Jim, now an old man, told this story to a journalist. He credited Jenny with saving his life. Her ancient, silent, and unshakeable instinct may have been the only true warning anyone received. Sometimes, heroes don't wear uniforms. Sometimes, they have fur, whiskers, and a heart that simply... knows.

We usually don't ask for monetary help because we try to host fundraisers to help us afford the care and rescue of our cats and dogs, but we've had a few CATastrophic medical issues come up with three of our cats. One of our cats was hospitalized for FOUR days in a local emergency hospital (they do not give discounts for rescue 501C3 organizations). We've had to make follow-up appointments and those charges were in the hundreds of dollars (compared to the thousands of dollars already paid out). Thankfully the cats are doing a lot better!

If you haven't made a donation recently, this would be the time to remember all the good we do for so many cats, dogs and people!!

Thank you in advance for your kindness!

You can mail a check to our PO Box 2005 Upland, CA 91785
or go to our website and click the link to make a donation via credit card.

Interesting Information !!

Empty Bowl Syndrome – When your cat’s bowl has food in it, but only on the perimeter of the bowl. The cat then looks at the owner and declares that the bowl is, in fact, empty.

Did you know there’s actually a reason for this behavior? It’s called whisker fatigue. Their whiskers are very sensitive & send signals to their brain and sensory system to help them navigate the world around them. Sometimes, when their whiskers brush up against too many things, they become overloaded by the signals sent to our brain, which can cause them to become stressed. When this happens, it’s called whisker fatigue.

The following is a list of signs that your kitty may be suffering from whisker fatigue:

* Dropping food outside of the bow to eat
* Pawing at our food and/or water bowls
* Pacing or loudly meowing near the bowls
* Acting hungry, but not eating or drinking our food and/or water
* Leaving food and/or water at the bottom of our bowl or around the sides of the bowl
* New aggression towards other pets

The good news is there is a simple solution to this: Replace their food and water bowls with ones that are wide, rather than deep, so their whiskers aren’t rubbing against the insides and bending.

A Polish legend tells the tale,
of tiny kittens, oh so frail.

Along the river’s edge they chased.
With butterflies, they played and raced.

They came too close to the river’s side,
and thus, fell in. Their mother cried.

What could she do but weep and moan?
Her babies’ fate were yet unknown.

The willows, by the river, knew
just what it was that they must do;

They swept their graceful branches down
Into the waters, all around.

To reach the kittens was their goal;
A rescue mission, hears and soul.

The kittens grasped the branches tight.
The willows saved them from their plight.

Each springtime since, the story goes,
Willow branches now wear clothes.

Tiny fur like buds are sprung
where little kittens had once clung.

And that’s the legend, so they claim,
How P***y Willows got their name!

If you LOVE YOUR CATS you will keep them INDOORS ONLY! Just another reason why your cats need to be indoors. They can enjoy the sun through your windows. They don't need to be outdoors where they are exposed to so many infectious diseases and predators. This is so very sad......

“It’s just a matter of time,” said Regina Massaro, the founder of Spay Neuter Intervention Project NYC, to The Post.
