At about 3 months old, Parfait is as sweet as his name suggests. This curious, gentle little guy is full of playful puppy energy but has a softer touch than most. He loves toys, treats, and nap time just as much as he loves being part of the action.

Parfait is crate-trained at night, sleeping peacefully with his sister, and is learning the ropes of house training. He does great with cats, enjoys the company of respectful children, and absolutely adores other dogs. He is truly dog-centered and happiest with a canine buddy to romp around with.

While he has not spent much time on leash yet, Parfait is cooperative, eager to please, and follows his people when off leash in secure spaces. He travels well in the car and settles easily with a chew or a treat.

Parfait would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that includes him in their daily adventures. He has a touch of FOMO and does not like being alone, so he will do best in a home where he has both canine and human companionship throughout the day.

If you are looking for a sweet, easygoing pup to grow alongside your family or your current dog, Parfait may be your perfect fit.

At Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU), we are dedicated to ensuring the successful placement of our dogs in loving, permanent homes. Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of returns due to behavioral issues that could have been prevented with the right support. A significant percentage of these returns involve out-of-area clients or those who have not completed training with GDU. To address this, positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required as a condition for all adoptions.

Preference for this dog will be given to adopters who commit to signing up for and completing our six-week Canine 101 training class in person at our headquarters in Troy, VA. Secondary consideration will be given to a limited number of out-of-area adopters who agree to complete one private lesson with GDU, either in person or virtually, and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement training class in their area.

Woody is a young, energetic, and eager-to-please German Shepherd who is looking for an active home that can match his enthusiasm for life. At around one to two years old, he has all the classic traits of a young shepherd—smart, playful, and loyal to his people. He thrives on activity and engagement, whether that’s playing fetch, going for walks, or just hanging out with his favorite humans.

Woody is house-trained, crate-trained, and well-behaved indoors. He settles easily in his crate at night and is always up for a game of tug or fetch during the day. He’s particularly fond of simple pleasures—give him a stick, and he’s just as happy as if you gave him the fanciest toy. He has done well with other dogs in his foster home, especially puppies, and seems to enjoy playing the role of a gentle babysitter. He hasn’t been around small adult dogs or children, so slow introductions would be needed in those cases.

On walks, Woody can be a bit of a handful, but he’s easily managed with a Gentle Leader and responds well to direction. He’s smart, trainable, and always looking to his person for guidance. A home with plenty of space to romp, regular exercise, and mental stimulation will help him thrive.

If you’re looking for a loving, energetic, and loyal shepherd who’s ready for adventure, Woody is your guy. He just needs the right home to help him channel all that energy into being the perfect companion.

🚶‍♂️🐾 Out and About is BACK in Staunton & Waynesboro! 🚶‍♀️🐾

We are so excited to offer this adventure-packed training class over the mountain again! 🌄🐕

Starting Tuesday, April 8th, at 6:00 PM, you and your pup will explore a new location each week, tackling real-world challenges while sharpening obedience skills. From shopping centers to parks, hiking trails, breweries, and even a railroad tunnel walk—this class is as fun as it is effective! ✨

This is one of our most-loved classes, with many clients taking it again and again! It’s also a key step in our therapy dog training track, making it perfect for those looking to advance their pup’s skills in diverse environments.

🐶 Dates: Tuesdays, April 8th - May 13th

Ted Mosby – A True Survivor Looking for His Happy Ending

For 6.5 years, Ted Mosby knew nothing but the four walls of a shelter. Born there and left behind, he coped with the stress and endless boredom the only way he could—by spinning and attacking his own feet uncontrollably. When Humane World for Animals stepped in to save him, they faced an agonizing question: Was he even savable?

Despite their best efforts, Ted couldn’t stop. He would spin for 18 hours a day, even on medication. The heartbreaking reality was setting in… until they took a leap of faith and sent him to us at Green Dogs Unleashed, sponsoring his intensive behavior modification.

Four weeks. Endless patience. Constant positive reinforcement. And today? Ted is off medication and rarely spins at all. He’s learning how to be a dog—how to enjoy the world, trust people, and take in life at a calmer pace.

Now, Ted is finally ready for his next chapter. He’s looking for a home that understands his past but is ready to focus on his future. He thrives on routine and would love a family that enjoys leash walks. He’s active but not high-strung, adores kids, and he enjoys other dogs his size, but is a little excited around cats.

After everything Ted has been through, he deserves a home that will continue to support his journey with love and patience. Could that be you?
