June is National Foster a Pet Month – and for pit bull–type dogs, it's especially important.

Pitties make up a disproportionately high percentage of dogs in shelters and rescues. More fosters means more dogs out of the shelter system, more time to find the right home, and fewer dogs at risk of euthanasia.

This is Russell making his case for a forever home. 💚

He’s 3 years old, 70 lbs, and one of the sweetest, most laid-back dogs you’ll ever meet. Good with other large dogs, fine around cats, unbothered by strangers, storms, or the doorbell. He loves to play just as much as he loves to do absolutely nothing.

Adam is a veteran. Maya came home a day before he lost his best friend to an overdose. He says she saved his life.⁣

Karin took Biggie in as collateral from a client who never came back. He was skinny as a string bean then – they called him Bean. He’s filled out since, and turned out to be the best business decision she ever made.⁣

Taya’s dad gave her Zina as a graduation gift. Nine years later, her warrior princess is the reason she advocates for the breed – giving them the better name and the fighting chance they deserve.⁣

💚 Meet Russell.

Named after the little boy in Up – and just like his namesake, he’s loyal, sweet, and ready to find his people.

Russell was found wandering as an intact stray on May 14th. No owner ever came forward, and it became clear he’d been dumped. Vaccinated, neutered, and heartworm-negative, he’s ready for his next chapter.

He’s around 3 years old, 70 lbs, and one of the most easygoing dogs you'll meet. He lives happily with two large dogs and is fine around cats. He doesn’t bark at strangers, other dogs, or the doorbell. Storms don’t faze him. He’s equally happy wrestling in the yard or melting into the couch next to you.

He needs a home that can give him the stability and love he deserves. If that’s you, please DM us or email [email protected].

Help plan and oversee one of the Charlotte area’s favorite dog-friendly events, the RescueMe 5K, while bringing people together to support a great cause.

In this role, you’ll:
✨ Help coordinate the RescueMe 5K and other local awareness and fundraising events
✨ Work alongside our Volunteer Co-Coordinators to create volunteer socials and workshops
✨ Turn great ideas into memorable experiences that inspire action
