Teamwork at its best.

Nothing But Love Canine Foundation had an Opportunity Drawing. Jan Scaphill won and asked it to be donated. Valerie Ellsworth asked me to pick someone. I picked Project Safe Pet.

“Pictures below is Maxim and Messiah. They live in a pen. It used to be a smaller pen and they made it really big and got them really nice dog houses and a platform and Claudia takes them out on field trips so they can go run around in a yard. We have known them for years and got them fixed probably five or six years ago.”

It’s been a while since I did a intro post, and we have a lot of new followers here.

Hi, my name is Courtney. I am a “one man band” and run this group! I work full time, but do this out of my large love for animals. It’s a family affair, so you’ll occasionally see my 4 year old or husband.

Our focus here is helping dogs in NC and SC. That includes the shelter setting, rescue, as well as community pets. Often times it is for medical needs, sometimes it is with supplies. We are not a rescue.

We occasionally help cats when the need arises, as well as local humans experiencing homelessness. Often times, our fundraisers overlap to do both.

Each week, new bundles will be offered in an attempt to move some of the thousands of socks that I have. If you prefer, they can be donated to a local organization who helps people experiencing homelessness.

Funds this week benefit Rusty's Legacy.

“Two days ago, a sickening discovery was made right here in McDowell County—a torture chamber housing horses, pigs, ducks, dogs, cats, and even a pig. Dead animals were found scattered around the property, while the surviving ones were emaciated, too starved and diseased to walk in some cases. Unspeakable abuses had been inflicted upon them, and their chances of survival are grim.
The dogs we rescued—six adults and five puppies—are in dire condition. They are covered in open sores, infested with ticks, fleas, and flies. They are skeletal, suffering starvation and their bodies filled with every parasite imaginable, even the puppies!!”

If you choose to donate the socks, they will be going to Rachel Smoak Ballenger this week. She is a school nurse in SC, where she has many kids whose basic needs are not met. Socks will fo in her office for these kids.
